Hi Rob,

Already known. It's a packaging error on Chrome's side. It should not be
owning the entire /usr/bin directory, only the files it's placing in
there. The spec should have:

%files
%{__bindir}/execname

NOT

%files
%{__bindir}

There is nothing Fedora can do about it. Sorry :/

IPv6 configuration in anaconda

2012-05-04 Thread A.J. Werkman
On a network without any DHCP I try to have anaconda install over a IPv6
network.

I want to give the network parameters as boot options on the kernel
commandline. The complete line is:

vmlinuz.f17tc2 nomodeset repo=http-url to installation tree noipv4
ip6=IPV6ADDR/64 netmask=IPV6ADDR dns=IPV6ADDR

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Anaconda_Boot_Options says I have to use
'ipv6=' in order to pass an IPv6 address. But this does not work. 'ip6='
does not give an error but still anaconda drops me in a dracut shell.

In the docs I only can find a gateway and dns option for IPv4. Are they
also used for IPv6?

Has someone ever successfully used this kind of manual IPv6 configuration?

Am I hitting a bug here?

Thanks, Koos.

convert 1.x style configs into 2.x style ones.
 More details here:

Thanks for the pointer. Although already figured out had some changes
that needed to find. Just removeing my older configs and using the new
ones, plus the couple things I knew needed to do for my network and all

Re: GMA500 vs. G3 software render

2012-05-04 Thread Bodhi Zazen
OK, I took yesterdays daily build for a spin on my netbook.

First - looking great. Fedora boots Fedora 17 with no problems, X is working
out of the box, no tweaking required.

gnome-shell (llvmpipe) is slow and uses more CPU, with spikes up to 70 % cpu
time. There are times when typing into a terminal lags, it is on the border of
usable. Probably worth a bug report ;)

kde - I am not normally a KDE user, but took the kde spin for a test drive. KDE
is looking nice, great eye candy and noticeably better performance, obviously
better then gnome-shell.

Hopefully this helps the Adams direct bug reporting (Fedora vs upstream, gnome
vs llvmpipe).

What can I do to provide additional information to help improve gnome-shell ?

for now you still can force fallback in the same way as in f16, via the
Control Center 'System Info' applet.

On Apple Macintosh Mini, 1.6GHz Core Duo (2 CPU, sse, sse2; but i686 only)
with Intel 945GM graphics (i915 driver) [5-year old first Mac-tel], glxgears
stutters horribly. FPS averages between 5 and 9, although some spurts of 15

with refresh, but this is nowhere near the case.

On Apple Macintosh Mini, 2.3GHz Core i5-2415M (2 CPU, x86_64, hyperthreading
capable)
with PCI 8086:0126 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics

glxgears is sync'ed perfectly to the refresh (about 59.88 FPS).

I'm not sure that's the same issue - it does involve the
accountsservice build that might fix the issue but unless I'm missing
something, the issue described in this thread has very different
symptoms.

On Apple Macintosh Mini, 2.3GHz Core i5-2415M (2 CPU, x86_64, hyperthreading

with PCI 8086:0126 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics

glxgears is sync'ed perfectly to the refresh (about 59.88 FPS).

When ajax says 'proprietary Intel hardware' he's talking about the
Poulsbo stuff (GMA500/600). but thanks for the report! seems odd that
glxgears would be so slow on the Mac Mini, I can't think of a reason for
that.

The offending package is in updates-testing, so it shouldn't present a
problem unless we're explicitly pulling it. Which AFAIK we aren't.

AIUI 814690 is the bug which the bad update aims to fix; the login list
breakage we're seeing is a separate bug caused by the attempted fix for
814690.

[Test-Announce] Fedora 17 Final Test Compose 3 (TC3) Available Now!

2012-05-04 Thread Andre Robatino
As per the Fedora 17 schedule [1], Fedora 17 Final Test Compose 3 (TC3)
is now available for testing. Content information, including changes,
can be found at https://fedorahosted.org/rel-eng/ticket/5163 . Please
see the following pages for download links (including delta ISOs) and
testing instructions. Normally dl.fedoraproject.org should provide the
fastest download, but download-ib01.fedoraproject.org is available as a
mirror (with an approximately 1 hour lag) in case of trouble. To use it,
just replace dl with download-ib01 in the download URL.

Installation:

Base:

Desktop:

Security Lab:

Ideally, all Alpha, Beta, and Final priority test cases for Installation
[2], Base [3], Desktop [4], and Security Lab [5] should pass in order to
meet the Final Release Criteria [6]. Help is available on #fedora-qa on
irc.freenode.net [7], or on the test list [8].
