2012-06-05 Thread Rob Healey
Greetings:

Would it a bad idea, to download this and re-compile it for fc17???

Odd issue hidden by /tmp on /tmpfs

2012-06-05 Thread Bruno Wolff III
I had an issue with apache crashing and leaving behind core files and
taking up a lot of space in /tmp. I didn't notice this before the switch
over to /tmp on tmpfs. And afterwards I was having trouble figuring out
where the extra space was being used since the /tmp fs hid the /tmp
directory.

It might be nice to clean up /tmp before overlaying it on boot or maybe
just outputing a log message of some sort if there is stuff in /tmp
before doing the overlay.

Yes. This is a known bug:

Preupgrade does not work 16-17

2012-06-05 Thread A. Mani
I tried to upgrade fedora 16 x86-64 via preupgrade a few days ago.
After the first stage up to download of packages and installation of
grub2 for the actual install process ... it went fine.
The new grub2 entry was not bootable (known bug?), but anyway I
modified it manually and started anaconda.
The installer invariably crashed after wanting a network connection´
(actually the machine connects manually to the Internet).
All of the tricks including
deletion of /etc/anaconda.repo and modification of the ks file did not work.

Fresh Install from dvd was ok... except for no support for encrypted btrfs

Best

re: Nightly-Composes...

2012-06-05 Thread Rob Healey
Dear Kevin:

Since there is a break in the compose process, when will there will a fix
and a good live cd build be available? I would love to be able to run
fc18/ Rawhide, but I would love to have a goodworking installable FC18 Live
CD to re- install from if there is a failure some time down the road...

Sincerely yours,
Rob G. Healey

Note that there is an issue with building initramfs when you have
device-mapper-multipath installed. I think that will get pulled into

That's slightly unclear, I apologize: what we'll ask for in that case is
a nightly boot.iso for the Rawhide tree, which hasn't happened as a
matter of course since No Frozen Rawhide. nightly live images happen
until branched point as a matter of course.

hm, "gateway", "two networks", "F17", "biggest problem" ...
sounds familiar to me

however, in my case it hasn't "died", it just didn't work from
the beginning ... it was a problem of minimal install and old
style networking, which should have been fixed since

maybe if you are a bit more specific about what does it mean
"local net died" we can get a bit further investigating where the
problem is
