[Test-Announce] Server Test Day Tomorrow (2014-11-07)
Greetings Testers! Tomorrow we'll be holding a testday for the Server product. Along with general testing there will be a focus on freeIPA, openLMI, cockpit and Rolekit. If you have some time, or want to get more familiar with all the new features Server brings, drop by the #fedora-test-day channel on freenode and run some tests, we'd love to see you there! More information can be found on the wiki [0]. Thanks! I put a concrete proposal in my bug report: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1160917 "For a 'proper' solution, I'm thinking perhaps we need to extend comps a bit (more). Perhaps environment groups need a or property, which defines the fedora-release-(product) package/group that's associated with that environment; anaconda and yum would then install the package/group for an environment *only if no other product package/group was already installed/selected for installation*, or something like that." -- Adam Williamson Fedora QA Community Monkey IRC: adamw | Twitter: AdamW_Fedora | XMPP: adamw AT happyassassin . net http://www.happyassassin.net -- test mailing list test@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/test

Fedora 21 - Unallocated space undetected
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi all. By installing Fedora 21 live Workstation, I noted that all unallocated space on hardisk is not detected so it's not available for a standard partitioning. I had to format in ext4 the unallocated space of which I needed in order to make it visible by Anaconda. Fedora 21 Common Bugs talks of a NTFS resizing bug, not of space management troubles. - -- Antonio Trande mailto: sagitter 'at' fedoraproject 'dot' org http://fedoraos.wordpress.com/ https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Sagitter GPG Key: 0x66E15D00 Check on https://keys.fedoraproject.org/ -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1 iQIcBAEBAgAGBQJUW8BWAAoJEFyovWBm4V0AamwP/i58bZ7wIhl2f5PXXh5+bans zJ9QaFwvuoRQdu1cKqHAkiTsGKS1Pms63Ym+asurqUAHSiW37JP+xcg/RAZKBC+l 5ZmtQRJRhxWY3XTHOfYu0TCHi96Ab2sa8P7xcanY7XFRDObHhVOibCM/xrXXaOfl c0J9PRsRTFb8QerVj94g9DOg/iJSrQXbtc42coDLO939FtGtSZZ6NTvU8C8vJMgv WxD4zGvXRWiWGdZT4776mXYg0DK5sExWOXgzworlZ498TErfPkF5T287foYkgBVE m66RDztxt1vpmsfZnXwhckZOrAILOkxAKOvrXkHCid9KA6gwYb1fQn7EP2tvOaMe tcZo/A3komMRhftOnJ/duSgnfwWHPmbY8MAbWZEPCWnlbDkC2F06sQxq1nqIF3QE oz9cYo5etLqCdMHfiQ29YwHMd/evg1mdVe3OHCsMhTQ6IhhWtUi29MnVyy4r+E4r wI2rKtTg72n3TWciRdy62Vvxf/oPZ/0hgcG1mAyIZa1Pgov+dsfbaG78NxmQbNHk JiMVSyQNaj26ws4Gih4+carmhTO/VN/KjfIf6lJbMEN3akdfeAIYmQcrhZx0QurK xqJWmx6BeS4AIqAtuxh2pWigLCcxbjHWD1RZFu2fcywFbpEfm0YU0QmFQurAMXnr I+Y6qr/8wALdRpNLd7/t =ATCY -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- test mailing list test@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/test

So you can't install the groups you can see, but you can > install the groups you can't see... Yeah, it's somewhat of an issue if you're trying to do that. The reason the -desktop groups were hidden as such is because people were using them to attempt to install the appropriate desktop on bare machines, which could then end up missing X, fonts, gstreamer plugins, etc. - what you want in that case is what's defined in the environment groups. Perhaps something where each product's metadata defines the environment groups to include the appropriate fedora-release- package, but the environment groups in the general case *don't*? Not sure that's possible, and it might lead to other issues. Bill -- test mailing list test@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/test

One of the configured repositories failed (Infinality - noarch), and yum doesn't have enough cached data to continue. At this point the only safe thing yum can do is fail. There are a few ways to work "fix" this: 1. Contact the upstream for the repository and get them to fix the problem. 2. Reconfigure the baseurl/etc. for the repository, to point to a working upstream. This is most often useful if you are using a newer distribution release than is supported by the repository (and the packages for the previous distribution release still work). 3. Disable the repository, so yum won't use it by default. Yum will then just ignore the repository until you permanently enable it again or use --enablerepo for temporary usage: yum-config-manager --disable infinality-noarch Adrian Fewster -- test mailing list test@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/test

Re: f21 beta 1: Audio problem on a Intel/quanta notebook
After many test, I have resolve (partially) my problem with this solution: $ sudo echo "options snd-hda-intel model=3stack" > /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf (also model=6stack work) then reboot. Now the audio work (and this, for me, is sufficient), but if I plug the headphone into jack, external audio is not mute and into headphone there is no sound. Now Audio Control Panel show: "Analogic headphones - Internal Audio" "Analogic Output - Internal Audio" Some suggest? Re: One Desktop and one Desktop ONLY.
Ed Greshko wrote: > Sorry to start yet another thread on the same issue I downloaded the KDE live image and then, even though I never use it, ran: sudo yum groupinstall "GNOME" Next, this got me a few more programs: sudo yum groupinstall "Fedora Workstation" I aborted the following, because it pulled in the input methods crap: sudo yum groupinstall "KDE Plasma Workspaces" Instead, I ran: sudo yum groupinstall "kde-desktop-environment" sudo yum groupinstall "gnome-desktop" I think I got pretty much all of it, without having to tinker around (too much). I still haven't logged in to Gnome, although I have been on Fedora 21 since Saturday. I admit that I installed Fedora 21ßRC4, since it snowed on Saturday and I didn't have the time during the week. It has all gone super! Kudos to the developers and packagers!!! -- test mailing list test@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/test

Filed https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1160917 , which I think describes the issue fully: you can't install environment groups which want to pull a different fedora-release-(product) to the one you already have installed. -- Adam Williamson Fedora QA Community Monkey IRC: adamw | Twitter: AdamW_Fedora | XMPP: adamw AT happyassassin . net http://www.happyassassin.net -- test mailing list test@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/test
