Well, on my F21 system I have

[root@f21 ~]# uname -r
3.17.6-300.fc21.x86_64

So, maybe update your system and make the question moot?

Re: Grub, which Kernel to boot

2014-12-16 Thread Joerg Lechner

 Hi,
on my F21 system it is the same:

uname -r
3.17.6-300.fc21.x86_64

Grubx Boot menue shows from top to down
3.17.6-300.
3.17.6-302.
3.17.6-301.

Yum update is ok. A check with Yum for installed Kernels shows
all three Kernels as installed.

Package sources open are:
Fedora 21 x86_64
RPM Fusion for Fedora 21- Free- Updates
adobe-Linux-x86_64
RPM Fusion for Fedora 21-Free
Fedora 21-x86_64-Updates

Kind Regards
Joerg

Did you originally install quite early, around Alpha time?
Was there a gui for this config? There was one some time back perhaps
for grub & not grub2.

Grub, which Kernel to boot

2014-12-16 Thread Joerg Lechner
Hi
when I boot F21, there is in the Grub boot menue displayed in the top position
Kernel 3.17.4-300.fc21 x86_64 and in the second position is
Kernel 3.17.4.302.fc21 x86_64
Is this ok? Should it not be vice versa?
Kind Regards

I don't think the netinst CD image has ever had a torrent download.

Ah, yes It is on https://getfedora.org/en/server/download/ I didn't
think to look there, in spite of the name, because it has more options than the
Server-DVD. It seems to be more inclusive than just "server".

FWIW, even though it is small, I think it would be nice to include it on the
torrent page since if you're going to download various images you probably
would want to use the same method to make your life "easier".

It is part of the release. It's on the downloads page and all the
mirrors. I guess there isn't a torrent because it's too small to be
worthwhile, either that or it's just an oversight.

netinst not part of release?

2014-12-16 Thread Ed Greshko
I just noticed that the Fedora-Server-netinst.iso appears not to be part of F21
release. I could not find it listed here http://torrents.fedoraproject.org/.
I sometimes find that iso helpful as one can choose the Base Environment,
Add-ons, as well as add language support.

Was this ever meant to be in the final release? If so, why was it eliminated?

Hi Zack, and welcome!

There are no rules about what to do first. The Join page lists several
choices, and they're all good - just pick one which feels most
comfortable to you. As we're between 21 and 22 there are no Test Days
coming up right away, but you could certainly try testing updates for
Fedora 19, 20 or 21 -
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Updates_Testing - helping with the
early Fedora 22 testing we're trying to do this cycle -
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/test-announce/2014-December/000969.html
 - and/or continue testing Rawhide in your VM and reporting bugs you
find (just having people running Rawhide and filing problems as they
come along is really valuable).

It usually works best to try doing some of the actual QA 'work' first
and then maybe get involved with planning and improving processes once
you've got a feel for the system and maybe some ideas about what could
work better, I find.

Thanks for volunteering!

thank you Fedora QA!

2014-12-16 Thread Matthew Miller
Hi everyone. Was reading
 and wanted
to thank you all for making this release as polished as it is. We're
getting very good press, and as one of the distro's talking heads, it's
reassuring to know that when I'm talking to reporters, I can be
confident in the quality of the release — largely thanks to all of you.
So, thank you!
