OK well it's default installation, I've changed nothing so it should
be wayland for gdm but it's not, the log shows only x. The word
wayland doesn't appear at all.

Flickering Wayland guests are a known issue:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1266484 .

Despite this you can still navigate with the keyboard and thus log in. If you
chose the GNOME on Xorg session, then you get a usable desktop. You can also
disable Wayland for GDM altogether in /etc/gdm/custom.conf.

Both of those seem like bugs worth filing for sure.

The wifi firmware isn't installed. Package
linux-firmware-20160204-61.git91d5dd13.fc24.noarch is installed, and
yet somehow the subpackage (?)
iwl7260-firmware-25.30.13.0-62.fc24.noarch.rpm is not installed. Once

F24 karma request: fedora-release-24-0.16

2016-03-20 Thread Adam Williamson
Hi folks! We have a blocker fix update for F24 that needs karma to be
pushed stable, fedora-release-24-0.16 :

https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2016-e62d4924ed

to test the blocker fix, install Fedora 24 Alpha 1.6 Server DVD (to
ensure you actually get the fixed fedora-release - a network install
will not necessarily get it, it depends if it's synced to the mirror
you use yet) and check that you can access Cockpit without doing
anything special to enable or start it. You should be able to connect
to localhost:9090 from the machine itself (you can do e.g. 'dnf install
links' to get a text browser), or (ipaddress):9090 from any other
system on the same local network (if you install to a VM, you should be
able to access Cockpit on the VM from the VM host system).

Thanks!

[Test-Announce] 2016-03-21 @ 16:00 UTC - Fedora 24 Blocker Review

2016-03-20 Thread Adam Williamson
# F24 Blocker Review meeting
# Date: 2016-03-21
# Time: 16:00 UTC
# Location: #fedora-blocker-review on irc.freenode.net

Hi folks! We have a few proposed blockers to review, so let's take a
look at them. There are 3 proposed Alpha blockers, 3 proposed Beta
blockers and 6 proposed Final blockers. We should also look at the 6
proposed Alpha freeze exceptions.

As Kamil pointed out last week, the meeting time is now 1600 UTC as
clocks went forward last week in most places. If your region observes
daylight savings time and you've changed your clocks forward already,
the meeting is at the same local time as always. If you haven't changed
your clocks, it'll be an hour earlier than before. Handy hint: you can
always run "date -u" to see the current UTC time!

If you have time this weekend, you can take a look at the proposed or
accepted blockers before the meeting -  the full lists can be found
here: https://qa.fedoraproject.org/blockerbugs/ . Remember to check
each milestone (Alpha, Beta, Final).

We'll be evaluating these bugs to see if they violate any of the
Release Criteria and warrant the blocking of a release if they're not
fixed. Information on the release criteria for F24 can be found on the
wiki [0].

For more information about the Blocker and Freeze exception process,
check out these links:
 - https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:SOP_freeze_exception_bug_process

And for those of you who are curious how a Blocker Review Meeting
works - or how it's supposed to go and you want to run one - check out
the SOP on the wiki:

Have a good weekend and see you on Monday!

[Test-Announce] Proposal to CANCEL: 2016-03-21 Fedora QA Meeting

2016-03-20 Thread Adam Williamson
Hi folks! I'm proposing we cancel Monday's QA meeting. Once again we'll
mainly be focusing on Alpha this week, I think, and we have the blocker
review meeting to see how we're doing there. It *has* been two weeks
since the last meeting, though, and I've been heads down on robot
herding, so please *do* reply to this mail and point it out if I'm
missing something that would be worth having a meeting for, and we can
have one! Thanks.

1.18.2 is not in the F24 Alpha composes at all. Unless the bug is
present in 1.18.1-2.fc24, it's not relevant to Alpha. Neither 1.18.2-1
nor 1.18.2-2 made it to stable before the Alpha freeze.

Nothing at all obviously related to virt in any way changed in Alpha 6.

This should be everything that changed:
https://fedorahosted.org/rel-eng/ticket/6371#comment:7

the only thing that looks even possibly relevant there is selinux-
policy, I guess. It's possible something went wonky in the compose
process, but unless anyone else can reproduce it...

Well there could be a difference in the defaults, this looks like it's
display related. I'm not sure what virt-manager uses differently than
gnome-boxes in that regard but both use qemu/kvm and libvirt. There's
other stuff wonky also, where Alpha 6 consistently resets the *hosts*
volume to maximum. Alpha 5 doesn't do that. And even if it did that's
really concerning that a VM can affect the volume setting of the host.

I'll test on virt-manager it might be the qxl driver but did that
change between Alpha 5 and 6?

Alpha 1.6 workstation live might be DOA

2016-03-20 Thread Chris Murphy
Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-24_Alpha-6.iso installed to Gnome-Boxes
is broken somehow and in ways that Alpha 5 was not.

The sha256sum for my download matches the published one here:
http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/stage/24_Alpha-1.6/Workstation/x86_64/iso/Fedora-Workstation-24_Alpha-1.6-CHECKSUM

The iso boots fine, installs fine, but upon reboot, the screen at GDM
flickers, and isn't responsive to mouse clicks in the expected way -
it seems to largely ignore clicks on the user entry: there's
additional flickering, but the entry isn't selected I don't get a
password field. If I click tab to select the user and return to
proceed, I do get a password field, and I can login. But I get a black
screen on login with just the time at the top of the boxes screen.

ssh journalctl during the GDM flickering and login isn't revealing,
all I see are these messages repeated over and over again:

Bug 1317145 and F24

2016-03-20 Thread Giulio E.
Several people encountered random freezes with a Qt environment (KDE or
LxQt) and Intel chipset on Fedora 23. Here's the report:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1317145

Did anybody hit this with F24? If yes, I think we should propose it as
blocker, because it sounds like a nasty issue.

I guess you are talking about libcue-2.0.1-2.fc24 ?

It landed before bodhi was enabled so it went right in.

If there's package(s) that are rebuilt against it and fix broken deps
or other issues, you're welcome to propose them for a Freeze break:

https://qa.fedoraproject.org/blockerbugs/milestone/24/alpha/buglist

Or they should go out as soon as alpha is go.

How has the broken libcue been released then, if it's not possible
to fix the mess it has caused?
