That's a rather vague description. It'd be entirely possible for two or
more different code bugs to result in that symptom; just because five
people all see a black screen on startup doesn't mean they're all seeing
the same bug.

I don't think the missing ifconfig (as stated in your bz comment) is a bug.
Those tools are deprecated for eons and if it's finally possible to not install
them by default, I think that's fine. Other distributions already managed to do
this some time ago. Use the ip command from the iproute2 package.

That said, giving up a habit is not always as easy as one wants it to be (I
regularly use the net-tools stuff myself when available), so the net-tools
package will probably stay with us for another few eons.

The network breakage on your VM doesn't seem related to the missing net-tools
package. I just installed a fresh F18 VM from TC2 netinstall media and network
connectivity is just fine.

That seems to be this issue:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=862801

I don't see it, it seems to hit just some configurations. Jurgen, can you
please post all important logs into that bug?

Thanks.

I did 2 runs installing from the DVD image using KVM. Anaconda stalls
indefinitely at the very end of the installation, while doing
'Configuring installed system'.

In the terminal I can see anaconda eating up 100% CPU. Attaching strace
reveals a continues stream of:
--- SGSEGV {si_signo=SIGSEGV, si_code=SEGV_MAPERR, si_addr=0x4} ---
rt_sigreturn()

Last messages from anaconda.log:
INFO anaconda: All kickstart %%post script(s) have been run

I gave it a reboot and this got me to firstboot and to the desktop.

[Test-Announce] Fedora 18 Beta Test Compose 2 (TC2) Available Now!

2012-10-04 Thread Andre Robatino
As per the Fedora 18 schedule [1], Fedora 18 Beta Test Compose 2 (TC2)
is now available for testing. Content information, including changes,
can be found at https://fedorahosted.org/rel-eng/ticket/5349#comment:2 .
Please see the following pages for download links (including delta ISOs)
and testing instructions. Normally dl.fedoraproject.org should provide
the fastest download, but download-ib01.fedoraproject.org is available
as a mirror (with an approximately 1 hour lag) in case of trouble. To
use it, just replace "dl" with "download-ib01" in the download URL.

Installation:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Current_Installation_Test

Base:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Current_Base_Test

Desktop:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Current_Desktop_Test

Ideally, all Alpha and Beta priority test cases for Installation [2],
Base [3], and Desktop [4] should pass in order to meet the Beta Release
Criteria [5]. Help is available on #fedora-qa on irc.freenode.net [6],
or on the test list [7].
