For Fedora 20 x86 I do: /usr/bin/rsync -auv --delete --exclude=debug/ --exclude=drpms/ rsync://mirrors.kernel.org/fedora/updates/20/x86_64/ /var/flexshare/shares/repo/fedora/20/updates/x86_64 As a nightly cron job. For the intial download of the OS, it was a similar rsync. You'd want to sync the development/rawhide tree. Then I made the mistake of installing today's Rawhide on it. Today's Rawhide is back to locking up before getting to the desktop. Bit of a dissappointment. Installing Rawhide?
I've tried several variations on installing Rawhide on a spare machine. In every instance, the fascist new Anaconda installs without reporting errors. Booting complains about a missing splash file but proceeds. The boot next complains about a premature end of file on the kernel and everything goes downhill from there. Machine: AMD 6000 with 2 GB RAM and SATA HD. This machine installs and runs other versions of Linux including Ultimate Edition 3.4 and Fedora 17. I' m having other weird issues with F16 freshly installed copying my backup back through USB: - transfer speed decreasing from 30 MB/s down to 5 MB/s very quickly - the machine taken down to its knees after about 30 minutes of copying (I'm trying to copy ~90GB). I' ve been trying to install rawhide from the lastest nightly build (from 28) and it fails to boot. There is a error message about the kernel not understanding the parameter giving through the boot command line (I can give the exact message if it's worth it). I was wondering whether at this point it is something actually worth reporting and troubleshooting or whether I should just install rawhide through one of the other possible methods (like upgrading F16 to rawhide).
