Well, it's not uncommon for someone to have figured out a way to do it,
and post a response when someone asks. This is a mutual support list for
Fedora pre-releases as well as the QA team's work list, remember - stuff
like making VMware and NVIDIA proprietary drivers and other 3rd party
bits work on Fedora pre-releases is perfectly on-topic, even though it's
not Fedora's 'responsibility'.

Why not try qemu-kvm instead? After all, it is the virtualization
platform that already comes standard with Fedora, and therefore has more
people on this list that will know how to support it, along with the
benefit of not requiring you to recompile or complain to a third-party
vendor. We'd love to know how to make the use of qemu easier to adopt.

Follow the instructions here:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/VMware#Configuration

You'll need all 3 patches on a fresh F21 system.

Note that the awesome Arch wiki people always keep this up-to-date, so
keep an eye on it if newer kernels break things again or you need to
do a new install.

Oh, and this isn't very helpful to someone wanting to help.

How about posting the errors you're getting? Maybe someone will see something
obvious and will know a simple fix.

Shouldn't the fine folks at Vmware be responsible for their products compiling
on later releases Fedora or any other Linux distribution?

I no longer have a contract with Vmware but when I did I would file a support
request when this happened. Would it be possible for you to do the same?

Problem installing Vmware Workstation 10.0.3

2014-10-25 Thread Lawrence E Graves
It will not compile. Is there a patch available to fix this problem. I
have searched the web and vmware.com I personally could not find one.
Thank for your help.
