Then you are still ahead of me. More precisely from time of F20 skype
for me works only on an i686 netbook and I could not get any sound from
skype where I tried it on two (a desktop and a laptop) x86_64 machines
regardless of a skype version (4.0.0.8-fedora, 4.2.0.13-fedora,
skype-4.3.0.37-1.fc20). Other sound producing applications do not seem
to have problems (but there they are not i686).

I tried various values for PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC, or omitting that
entirely, and that did not change results. From a pavucontrol display
a microphone, when plugged it, seems to be active but if skype gets any
of this signal I cannot tell.

Before updating these machines to Fedora 20 skype worked just fine for
a number of years. I did not have a chance to try with F21 yet.

http://blogs.skype.com/2014/06/18/skype-4-3-for-linux/ ... 3 months
ago is not that "a long time" also "PulseAudio 3.0 and 4.0 support"
that's the fix for the latency issue.

Do you even need it on F20 anymore?

(perhaps skype has been fixed to not require that workaround)

I always start Skype with this command:

env PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 skype %U

I do the same (since F20), but does not help in F21 :-(

Hi Temlakos,

omitting "PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60" solves my problem!

That suggests when I do the upgrade from F20->F21, I should use
pulseaudio with no latency. True?
