;)

There is still a big problem to solve, namely the beams. There is already a
testversion with fully automatic beams. But it isn't ready yet. So the input
will change, old pieces won't run. To avoid user mails like: Oh, it doesn't
work anymore, it must be a bug... I decided to "hide" the unofficial version
until V1.0 is reached and no more changes (not additions) will be done.

If you, Robin, will answer these mails, then you can freely distribute it
"regular".

bye, andreas

No, it isn't. Next version comes in two weeks.

Sorry, but you can't. It's a little more complicated, I know it, because I coded
that (like MusiXTeX before).

You can add lyrics with MusiXTeX with the macros \zsong, \lsong and
\csong.
OpusTeX has some specific macros for Gregorian chant with lyrics. These
are not available for MusiXTeX. I think it's possible with MusiXTeX,
but it will be more work since you have to type more or make your own
macros.

I think a package for MusiXTeX which has the same macros as opusgre
would have to be implemented nearly from scratch because of the
incompatibilities between MusiXTeX and OpusTeX.
Maybe opusgre is based on musixgre but it has a lot of new macros while
musixgre seems to be in the state it was when OpusTeX separated from
MusiXTeX.

You can add lyrics with MusiXTeX with the macros \zsong, \lsong and
\csong. Have a look at section 2.20.7 (p. 77-83) of the MusiXTeX manual.

Thanks a lot for this suggestion! I'll try this package and see what I can do.
But it's really impossibile to write texts with Gregorian chant using MusiXTeX?

[TeX-music] Gregorian chant: MusiXTeX?

2004-10-28 Thread Olivier Vogel
Dear Guido,

What seems me the most adequate in your situation is to convert the
fonts of OpusTeX in Postscript. It is not too difficult to do this task
with mftrace, a software that converts automatically fonts from metafont
into type1. Have a look here:

[TeX-music] Gregorian chant: MusiXTeX?

2004-10-28 Thread Guido Milanese
Dear all,

I normally use OpusTeX for Gregorian Chant because it is very effective, even
if it seems to be a dead project right now. The problem is that now I am
producing a book with musical examples, so I need real Postscript fonts
because with bitmapped fonts the typesetter complains (file too big, slow
download and so on...).

Problems:
(1) OpusTeX does not have Postscript fonts: right?
(2) MusiXTeX has a package for Gregorian chant that is enough for the simple
needs of this book: but how should one add words? With OpusTeX it's simple,
as:

\sgn et\punctum c\egn

to write 'et' on a punctum. I have not found anything like that in the
MusiXTeX manual.

Thanks for your help!
g.
