People who love traveling in Mexico are going to want to watch this DVD.

"The first complete descent of Mexico's legendary Alceseca River."
( Veracruz )

I have never once kayaked, but this month's issue of a kayaking magazine,
shows some incredible photos from this movie. These guys are going
over some death defying waterfalls. One of them looks like it is coming
out of a cave.

Problem With Subscribing to Texascavers List

2007-04-11 Thread Orion Knox
On Monday I sent in a "subscribe" e-mail to
texascavers-subscr...@texascavers.com . Yesterday I received a notice that
it had "fatal errors"?? and "reason: 451 Spam Received Recently See:
http://www.sorbs.net/lookup.shtml?24.93.47.43)". I went to the web site
listed and have spent the last two hours trying to wade through the nonsense
presented. I am not a computer whiz and have no idea what their problem is.
I get the impression they think I'm a spammer or something.

I was subscribed until about a month ago when I unsubscribed while I was on
a three week trip to New Zealand and now I'm trying to get back on the list.
Is there anything you can do to resolve this problem? I assure you , I'm not
a spammer.

Will someone - (anyone?) - snag the biggest for me?
I need material to make motorcycle covers and a replacemtnt cover for my
catamaran's deteriorating cover especially. I've been wishing for this kind
of material to fall from the sky into my open arms - but until now no luck.
The hard part is I cannot attend the convention.

Cool.

Ed Sevcik grabbed some of these several years ago. I ended up with two that
have been amazingly durable, and I still keep them in the car for emergency

RE: [Texascavers] TSS work session - Urgent request!

2007-04-11 Thread mark . alman
All,

since Jacqui is at work and, I believe, John is traveling, I would like
to make an urgent request on behalf of Jacqui, the TSA, and the
Convention this weekend.

We desperately need a volunteer who is planning on attending the TSS
work session this evening and the Convention this weekend to pick up the
items in the TSA Store inventory, which is stored at the TSS offices
below.

If you could transport them to the Convention, that would be great, or
if you're unable or not planning on attending the Convention, please
contact me offline
and I can pick them up from you this Friday.

A big thanks to anyone that can help!

Thanks,

Cavers,

There is a scheduled work session of the Texas Speleological Survey
tomorrow, Wednesday, April 11th, at the JJ Pickle Research Center on
Burnet Road north of highway 183. We will be working on filing new cave
descriptions and general map organization. You will be able to work on
your own projects as well. The door will be open at 5:00 p.m. and stay
open till we adjourn.

If you have questions, please go to

me at ronra...@austin.rr.com or call my cell phone. The TSS office phone
is 475-8802 if you get lost or stopped by the guard. Remember that you
must arrive before 6:00 pm, or the gate guards might not let you in!
We'll probably work until 8:30 or 9:00pm.

Re: [Texascavers] Warning about Lidar photos!!

2007-04-11 Thread Alan Blevins

The vulnerability that everyone has picked up one of many vulnerabilities
found in Microsoft's Internet Explorer. If you've run your Windows Update
recently, it shouldn't affect you (although you'll still be warned about
it). If you're using Mozilla Firefox to do your web browsing, this, like
most other web-based security problems, doesn't concern you anyway - Firefox
doesn't have the security holes that Internet Explorer is famous for, and it
patches itself each time it starts as new problems are discovered and fixed.

That said, it appears that the cause of the warning is not malicious code
but sloppy coding on the part of the webmaster.

Here's a direct link to the LIDAR photos:

I just tried to access the website with the LIDAR photos Geary e-mailed
about: www.danielholmanphotography.com

Immediately upon connecting, Norton popped up with a couple of "high risk"
warnings that it blocked activities from that site trying to access my
computer. I don't know if there is any real risk or if Norton didn't
recognize some legitimate interface, but I disconnected right away. I
support the LIDAR project, but also keeping computers virus-free. Don't
visit this site unless your anti-virus software is updated and working, or
unless you're a lot more tech-savvy than I am and feel confident you can
safely figure out what is going on.

Sorry to throw cold cave water on Daniel's website and the announcement.
