[Texascavers] spelunker t-shirt
Here is a t-shirt you can order on line. http://img.printfection.com/1/422/5093374/qEty1.jpg It doesn't have any graphics, but you could always add your own later. I wouldn't wear this shirt. Is it correct to say that someone is "100 % spelunker?" David Locklear
[Texascavers] Tyrolean Traverse video
I can recall rigging at least three tyrolean traverses in caves, but none were ever this long. >From TagNet: Tyrolean Traverse Video - What a scream! By: Scott Fee (Birmingham, Alabama) http://tiny.cc/KzikP This is an absolute hoot. This video features Anne Elmore (posted with her permission by the way) as she comes sailing across the Desoto Falls canyon. Re: [Texascavers] archives and help requested
I misunderstood how Google groups does a private list and Mark is correct, external email addresses can login to the groups and gain access. If anyone else wants to peruse the archives, please let me know. Any email address will work :) Charles On Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 8:54 AM, Minton, Mark wrote: > Charles, > >>Everyone else, give me feedback (either on list or off) about the public >> archives. > I would love to have access to the TexasCavers archives. [Texascavers] re: bats and wind power
This is not a simple issue. BCI has been working on this for 3 years now, and with no end in sight. Before there is a lot of rampant speculation on this list and the discussion devolves to religion, hippie chicks, LED lights, and driving mopeds to Florida for the NSS Convention, go to http://www.batsandwind.org/ for some basic reading and understanding. Keep in mind that this website is a good primer, but just shows the tip of the iceberg. -- Crash -Original Message- From: George-Paul Richmann [mailto:gprichm...@gmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, July 15, 2008 10:02 AM To: Dave H. Re: archives and help requested
Mark, restricting to only gmail addresses was I thought a requirement to read the web archives if it was a private group. Obviously I am mistaken and will add your email address. Let me know if that works, you will receive an invitation from Google groups to join it. Also, let me know if you have questions please. Thanks! This is caving related because of the bat kills caused by wind turbines. I'm not putting the story here because it's three pages and I'm not inclined to take the time to cut and paste em all.

Charles, >Everyone else, give me feedback (either on list or off) about the public >archives. I would love to have access to the TexasCavers archives. As you pointed out, it is a great source of information when researching some topic about caving in Texas or by Texas cavers. I have used Google Groups before, as we have a couple set up here out East for Germany Valley and Hellhole. They are private in the sense that you must be a member to read them, but you do not have to have a gmail address. The latter seems like a strange requirement. Shouldn't the granting of access via a registered email address and password be enough to insure security? Anyway, please count me in whenever you decide to open them up to wider participation. Thanks for the link, Mike. Very nice photos and you have an excellent website. Well done! We mapped out the 2-3 neat little caves we had found, the largest being about 30m long (which we named Cherry) Some of those from the other teams will have to give a more detailed report on their finds (some of them were really cool). I've got photos from both days online at www.mpphoto.ws (Link is on the bottom) It rained almost every day but the mountains were absolutely beautiful and the views were fantastic!
