Hmm, maybe we need to cure some hog bacon for the morning after at TCR this

Since cavers are known to partake of the occasional drink, you might be
interested in this scientifically verified cure for a hangover:
the bacon sandwich.

Cavers,

There will be a board meeting of the Texas Speleological Survey this Saturday,
May 2, beginning at 10:30 am. We will be going all day so it will be a good
time for you to come by the office and take a look at the Texas files. You need
not attend the Directors Meeting (unless you want) but can share lunch when we
send out. I know several of you have complained that the Wednesday work
sessions do not work for you so this is a good opportunity to see maps and
files on the week-end. Let me know if you want to attend and I will put you on
the gate list. And write if you need directions.

Don't forget, if you're registered for the TSA member area you can add your
own calendar events for trips like Longhorn. Just log in to the member area
and one of the options after login is "Add Calendar Events". It works
because that's the same function I use to put new stuff on the calendar.
You can also edit (change or cancel) events you put on the calendar.

[Texascavers] I have a cabin reserved at Kerrville City Park for the ICS week, up for grabs

2009-04-30 Thread Jon Cradit
Hi folks,

I have a cabin reserved at Kerrville City Park, for the week of 18-26
July during the ICS.

It is on the Guadalupe River and it has AC and four beds.

I will be staying on campus, therefore the cabin is up for grabs for the
week.

The weekly rate is $385.00 plus I paid a deposit last year.

You could get it for the family or several folks go in together and stay
there.

First come, first gets it.

[Texascavers] Devils Sinkhole Trip

2009-04-30 Thread Geary Schindel
Folks,

I have a water level measuring instrument in Devils Sinkhole which I
need to remove on Saturday. I'm looking for one or two folks (toadies)
that are vertically competent to go along and help. This is a one day
trip scheduled for Saturday, May 2. Devils Sinkhole is located near
Rock Springs, Texas, approximately 2 hours west of San Antonio. I would
like to enter the cave in the early to mid morning. You must have your
own vertical gear, know how to use it. Be able to change from
rappelling to ascending and back to rappelling (be able to do a change
over) and not have a fear of heights (the drop is 145 feet). This
should not be your first or even second vertical cave. I'm looking for
more experienced folks - thank you. You must also follow
decontamination procedures in that all of your equipment must be clean
and decontaminated before you arrive on the property. You must also be
willing to sign a release to enter the cave.

If you are interested, please send me an email at
gschin...@edwardsaquifer.org

Thanks,

Geary M. Schindel
