[Texascavers] OT - walkie-talkies
A few years ago, there was a post about walkie-talkies and how the package advertising was claiming 8 mile range and others claiming up to 16 mile range. Since then, the numbers have gradually increased. Now, similar radios are claiming 36 miles of range on their product advertising. Yet the wattage doesn't appear to be different. Has anything changed ? Here is an example: http://www.midlandradio.com/Two-Way-Radio.BS3/GXT1000VP4 The newest walkie-talkies have all sorts of bells and whistles: Lithium-Ion batteries, powersaving circuitry, Bluetooth headsets, car chargers, dual-radio chargers, digital screens, LED flashlight, digital voice recorder, USB charging port, etc. Here is an example: http://www.cobra.com/products/two-way-radios/microtalk-cxr900-30-mile-radio-with-weather David Locklear Ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_Radio_Service - Visit our website: http://texascavers.com To unsubscribe, e-mail: texascavers-unsubscr...@texascavers.com For additional commands, e-mail: texascavers-h...@texascavers.com
