[Texascavers] OT - walkie-talkies

A few years ago, there was a post about walkie-talkies and how the package
advertising was claiming 8 mile range and others claiming up to 16 mile range.

Since then, the numbers have gradually increased.

Now, similar radios are claiming 36 miles of range on their
product advertising.

Yet the wattage doesn't appear to be different.

Has anything changed ?

The newest walkie-talkies have all sorts of bells and whistles:
Lithium-Ion batteries, powersaving
circuitry, Bluetooth headsets, car chargers, dual-radio chargers,

The meeting is on Wednesday from 7:45 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. 
on the University of Texas Campus in 2.48 Painter Hall

The Program will feature the premiere of TEXAS CAVER. Director Joe Datri will 
provide introductions about his inspiration for this documentary movie.  Come 
out for a hot time in Austin Texas and experience all the cool things that we 
take for granted on a daily basis.

All of our information is available through our link including officer contact 
info, trips reports, new caver training, event calendar for beginner trips, 
vertical rope training, or other cool activities.  

Not all of us, but some cavers meet before the meeting about 6:30, where we go 
to Sau Paulo www.saopaulos.net  for happy hour, then afterward at about 9:30 
for the after meeting, we go for burgers and beer at Posse East

The UT Grotto needs you, YES YOU, the caver with photos and a story to share 
about your adventures, scientific research, or something else really cool.
