the first 2012 edition of The TEXAS CAVER to the Members Area.

In this issue, you'll find a great cover photo of Natasha Glasgow about
to drop into a pit in TAG country.

The articles start off with a superb Lechuguilla trip report by Andrea
Croskrey and photos by Jen Foote, David Ochel, Derek Bristol.

There are a plethora of project reports from around the state, with
photos, from Marvin Miller, David Ochel, the Three Bens (Hutchins,

TSA Photo Salon Rules

Download Salon Entry Form (PDF)

Categories
1. Print (black & white, color)
2. Digital (black & white, color)

Entry requirements
Each photographer is limited to 2 entries.
Prints must measure at least 8 x 10 inches, but not larger than 20 x 24 inches.
All entries must be mounted, but not framed. They may be matted at the
discretion of the entrant. The prints title should appear either on the matte
or on the mount directly below the print. The photographer must not be
identified on the front of the matte or mount. (Note that if you plan to enter
the same print in the NSS Print Salon, they require the title on the left and
the photographers name on the right, or on a separate card measuring at least 2
x 3 but no larger than 3 x 4, so you may want to put the title on the left and
leave room to add the photographers name later for the NSS salon.) Lettering

number (assigned by the entrant see entry form) must be written on or attached
to the back of the mount.
Digital files may be submitted in .JPG or .TIF format. Be sure to include the
entry number of each photo in its filename, and reference the filenames on your
entry form.

You can bring your files to convention on CD-ROM or a USB flash drive (no
floppies). All entries must be received at the photo salon location by 10 a.m.
on the Saturday of convention. If you cannot bring your digital entries to the
convention, e-mail the TSA Vice-Chair to make other arrangements. Because of
file-size limitations, please do not send any entries by e-mail.

NOTE: If you are entering in the print category, please also bring digital
copies of your photos if at all possible, on CD-ROM or USB flash drive. We
will be showing a digital slide show of photo salon entries during the awards
presentation before the auction.
A completed entry form must accompany all entries. (The entry form will be
available for download soon on the TSA website.
Entries must be delivered to the photo salon location by 10 a.m. on the
Saturday of convention. If you are unable to bring your photos to convention,
please e-mail the TSA Vice-Chair to make arrangements to mail them.
Include a prepaid return mailer if you want your photos returned or pick up
your entries before you leave the convention on Sunday.

Judging and prizes
Prize for Best of Show in each category, plus ribbons, awarded by a panel of
judges. Prize for Peoples Choice in each category, by popular vote. We'll try
to scan the slides and put together a looping digitally-projected slideshow so
everyone can see all the slide entries.

There are a lot of people out there taking pictures in caves, and we hope to
see an increase in entries for this year's photo salon. We've tried to make the
rules as simple and easy as possible. Don't be afraid to enter. Almost
everybody has at least one really good shot. Please take the time to let us see
yours!

I've seen some fantastic photos, taken by cavers in this past year, the
competition WILL be fierce. If you think you can do better, come prove it!!

a.m. Saturday, March 31st

Winners will be announced during the evening festivities at Cascade Caverns on
March 31st, 2012

TSA Photo Salon Rules

Download Salon Entry Form (PDF)

Categories
1. Print (black & white, color)
2. Digital (black & white, color)

Entry requirements
Each photographer is limited to 2 entries.
Prints must measure at least 8 x 10 inches, but not larger than 20 x 24 inches.
All entries must be mounted, but not framed. They may be matted at the
discretion of the entrant. The prints title should appear either on the matte
or on the mount directly below the print. The photographer must not be
identified on the front of the matte or mount. (Note that if you plan to enter
the same print in the NSS Print Salon, they require the title on the left and
the photographers name on the right, or on a separate card measuring at least 2
x 3 but no larger than 3 x 4, so you may want to put the title on the left and
leave room to add the photographers name later for the NSS salon.) Lettering
should not exceed 0.25 inch in height. The photographers name and the entry
number (assigned by the entrant see entry form) must be written on or attached
to the back of the mount.

Please take the time to let us see
yours!
