Congratulations Fofo!. I'll bet that David (Bunnell) can get you an image file
of the cover.

He (Dave Bunnell) is just off to the Galapagos for a month, so you might have
to wait a bit.

The March trip of the Colorado Bend Karst Project is this weekend!

Most cavers show up Friday evening and camp out. All survey teams will be
organized and sent out of camp by 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Camping is
again available on Saturday evening with the possibility of more caving on
Sunday morning.

As always, check out the project info sheet for more information:

I will be going to Travis County Midnight Cave on Sunday Mach 16th to clean
up some trash that was exposed by the October floods. It's mostly broken
glass.

I know allot of newer U.T. Grotto members have never seen this cave so I'm
offering up the opportunity to visit. Signup Required!

The entrance is a nice 50' drop rigged with a simple re-direct. You must
have prior vertical experience, such as Vertical 101. I'm willing to offer
assistance to those seeking a Vertical 301.

If you're coming just to see the cave, please also be willing to help with
the cleanup. If you're coming because you need a Vertical 301, you get a
pass on helping with the cleanup, as much of the work is at height.

All participants need to have verifiable vertical experience, such as
completing Vertical 101.

On that note, Lydia is hosting the monthly Grotto rope night (Vertical
101,301) on Tuesday night.

I'll have the cave rigged from 11-4. There is only room at the bottom of
the drop for a few people at a time, as much of the chamber is a lake fed
by a currently flowing 30' waterfall. As such it might be best to have
people arrive staggered throughout the day and be prepared to spend most of
there time visiting around the entrance, and telling curious onlookers
about how cool caves are and how the chemicals they put on their lawn ends
up in our drinking water.

Wear Boots - broken glass and deep mud - wear boots.

Space is limited, signup required, e-mail me what time you'd like to arrive
and whether you'll be visiting/helping or seeking training.

This is a private event not associated with the City of Austin.

I received the March NSS News yesterday in the mail, and while looking at the
cover photo I thought, "Dang, I think I know that guy, it looks just like Fofo
Gonzalez, and that marble cave looks just like those photos of caves in
California." It was nice to see that verified when I opened the issue and
checked the photo caption. What a nice birthday present for Fofo (his birthday
is this month)!

Thank you Diana!

Yes, this was the best birthday present! It was completely unexpected, and I
wonder how I can get a couple (hundred) extra copies of the newsletter for
giving out as business cards.

That's a cool marble passage, lots of really good photo spots.
