Crash Kennedy says that you're a good guy and doesn't steal the silverware or Peter Sprouse says you can dig in the jungle all afternoon with only your hands and boots, is always preferable to I hear there's an American that wants to come to my country, but I'll take what I can get. I was given a grotto contact list for Hawaii last year, and I had literally *zero* cavers write me back. I suspect a personal introduction would have done me better :) Best Regards, ~~Thomas On Wednesday, April 16, 2014 2:45 PM, George Veni gv...@nckri.org wrote: Here is a simple rule-of-thumb if you’re planning to go caving outside of the US and are looking for contacts. [Texascavers] underwater archaeology in Quintana Roo
The Meadows Center for Water and Environment at Texas State University is hosting a brown bag lunch (a talk to which you can take your own lunch, or not) from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. next Tuesday, April 22. Alberto Nava Blank and Jim Chatters will talk about their work in Hoyo Negro, a deep pit in an underwater cave in the Yucatan. The event is at 951 Aquarena Springs Dr., San Marcos. I think that is the old Aquarena Springs Hotel. -- Mixon If you can't say something nice, come and sit by me. Thomas Sitch [mailto:dreadfl...@yahoo.com] Hi Thomas: Frenc Facija, a caver in Slovenia, operates a speleocamp near Laze with both a bunkhouse and campsites for visiting cavers. He is a very active caver with many contacts through the caving community. franc.fac...@siol.net , i...@speleocamp.com There are some images of Frenc and his facility on page 7 of http://www.focusedtours.com/images/Slovene-Karst%20final%201-30-09.pdf (It may take a moment to download the PDF file) We are currently in Terlingua, but plan to return home to Denver in early May. I think I have an extra copy of Ian Bishop's Cave Guide to Slovenia which I purchased from him in 2006. Ian has passed on and the publication is out of print. Let me know if you would be interested in obtaining that extra copy. DirtDoc
