Sleaze-
Don't suppose you'd like to write a review about your experience at the
Convention for the Texas Caver? ;)

Seriously. Not kidding..

[Texascavers] Rocksprings

2016-04-30 Thread via Texascavers
The Wandering Weazel is dismayed that there have been no reports on this list
of the fine time had by all in Rocksprings. I, for one, much enjoyed meeting
old friends and exploring the Edwards plateau. My only complaint was a lack of
snakes at Kickapoo Cavern where I enjoyed a few days of rest and hiking. The
wildflowers were in full bloom everywhere.

At present I am in the delightful town of Muzquiz, Coahuila. Who would have
thunk there would be enormous cypress trees in the desert? In search of
authenticity as always, last night I found a cantina of extraordinary
funktitude. In addition to the usual Sicaros and drunken cowboys, the decor
included various deer, cow, and horse skulls, sombreros, guns, whips, lassos,
rusted spurs, and a life sized Martian dressed like a vacquero and sprouting an
enormous erection. I doubled over in laughter then turned around to discover
that other giant penises were protruding from beneath the bar at waist height.
The bartender could wiggle them at will. That was when I headed for the door.
And you thought all the gay cowboys were in Dallas? Later on at a different
establishment I broke the heart of an antiquated lady of the night who wept as
I fled into the night. So far so good. The adventure continues!

[Texascavers] Bittinger-Morris video

2016-04-30 Thread Carl Kunath via Texascavers
Thanks to Robert Bisset for posting the remarkable and historically important
YouTube clip of Craig Bittinger and Neal Morris demonstrating vertical
techniques of the 1970 period, spinning Goldline and all. It was a special
treat to see Craig demonstrating the “three boot” ascending method.

A copy of this video will be in the permanent archives of the Texas
Speleological Survey.
