[Texascavers] Total Eclipse at Monday's Bexar Grotto Meeting

2017-11-10 Thread Bennett Lee via Texascavers
This Monday night, Bexar Grotto's own Tom Florer will be presenting "How to
View a Total Solar Eclipse without the Crowds: 10 Days in the Backcountry of
Grand Teton National Park". While that might not sound caving-related, he
promises there is a tie into caving.

Don't forget Robber Baron Open House this Saturday. And next Grotto meeting
will be Christmas card selections, so start digging through your photos and
slides for that perfect photo to represent the Bexar Grotto!

The Bexar Grotto meets every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month at 7pm in the
Party Room of Chester's at 410 and N New Braunfels.

[Texascavers] November related

2017-11-10 Thread David via Texascavers

I am just wondering or curious what other cavers in Texas are doing this
weekend.

On a different note, it has been 10 years since the owner of Honeycreek
Cave, Johnny Gass, passed away.

And 6 years since caver, Rod Goke, passed.

And 10 years since Donna Mosesmann passed away.

And it will soon be 46 years since the 2 young students from Rice
University drowned in Las Grutas de Carrizal.

Are any cavers getting together in memory of Doug Allen ?

As of Friday evening, I am frolicking in the town of Brehnam.

On a different note,

My Thanksgiving itenerary:

There is a 1% chance I will be in Monterrey, Mexico celebrating
Thanksgiving with my sister-in-law.
( Colonia Las Fuentes, below the west face of Cerro de la Silla )

I have an urgent psychological need to get out of Harris County. I have
gone stir-crazy from all the Tropical Storm Harvey bullsh*t. I am
shoulder-deep in it.That is partly why I am in Brenham this evening.
