Thanks a lot Lee, Donald, Rob, Linda. This article seems to describe what may 
be a significant COVID-related problem. You and others have made some 
thoughtful comments.  Linda has a good point.  Some of the posted comments seem 
quite reasonable. I am afraid that mine are less so.



Introspectively, it explains many things in my personal behavior. I now realize 
that I have had this syndrome for years and years.  It must be why I am so 
terribly uncomfortable in caves and have never enjoyed being inside them. I now 
realize that I am hiding from myself the fact that I am actually frightened of 
both caves and especially of the creatures therein. I become very anxious in 
dark places even if I have a flashlight to use. I hope for a full moon when I 
have to hike at night. Undoubtably that is why I have now become an ardent cave 
conservationist by not going into caves. 



“Do no harm” seems to be a good way of rationalizing being possessed by the 
syndrome. Stay out. It is dark in there.

could be used:

waters disappeared into a narrow crack in its limestone bed.


After exiting the cave, a hungry formation of twelve cavers went into
town to meet at the Oso Grille for dinner.


The formation of cavers carefully traversed the muddy ledge above the
deep black void.


The tireless formation of ridgewalking cavers diligently searched the
hillside for the elusively reported hole.
