[Texascavers] BOG live report

2011-10-21 Thread dlocklear01
The BOG Howdy Party is in full gear. 20 cavers from out-of-state, 10 Texas
cavers and about 6 GHG'ers and a few others.

It is in an outdoor pub.

Tom Summers is chillin. Quite a few are tasting an ale.

Cavers are socializing.

I am texting.

[Texascavers] Related to ranch gates

2011-10-13 Thread dlocklear01
Walmart has a heavy-duty combination lock that uses a 4 letter code. This
could be temporarily used at ranch gates for specific trips, or maybe for the
gate at the cave.

The code could be, CAVE or BATS. or your favorite 4-letter word.

The brand name is WordLock.

***Wouldn't work on gates were you can't see the letters.***

Price $ 13.97 plus tax.

2011-10-07 Thread dlocklear01
Certified Spelunkers are now searching for Kevin Eve who has been missing 6

It will be an interesting story if they rescue him alive from a cave.

[Texascavers] New LED flashlight

2011-05-16 Thread dlocklear01
Lowe's Hardware just got a new flashlight in.

Kobalt #0079129

I will not be able to test it for a while, but it looks like the best
flashlight I have seen in my life.

$ 70

500 lumens on high. Has a low setting which is what you would normally use.

Has fancy lens arrangement with 3 LED's.

Light-weight enough to take on a caving trip to a big cave.

Hopefully there will be one at next caver's auction.

[Texascavers] Camera related

2011-05-07 Thread dlocklear01
Best Buy has the Sony a230 camera on clearance for only $ 360.

Looks like a good bargain for a caving camera.

No idea if that is every store or just the one I am at.

The additional flash is $ 130.

I think telephoto lens is $ 250

And another $ 250 for a 16 mm lens

Thanks Bill for posting that.

I can't wait to see the movie of that.

For whatever reason, that article was very Blackberry friendly. I haven't seen
any other web-sites upload like that. It was very easy to read.
