Yes - Sarah (Springer) Beadle is the ASS member who died last August in the Grand Canyon. She was present on the trip ~18 years ago to 0-9 Well when Joe Ivy died. I remember reading that news story back then, and the tragedy of that struck me without knowing it might havebeen someone that I once met at TCR. I used to keep track of or tried to stay in touch with many A.S.S. alumni and current cavers, but after about1995, life just got to be too hectic. So I know nothing about the A.S.S. after that, other than what a handfulof alumni from the 80's have been up to. And I have zero knowledge of the Aggie cavers from campuses likeGalveston, other than news stories about the cave-diving professor / researcher. I have personally known one Aggie caver that passed away, and had gone caving with them. I have known severalthat just can't be located, or names can't be remembered, or don't seem to have much desire to reminisceor stay in touch. Anybody remember Chris Sobin ? Whatever happened to him ? [Texascavers] Death of Brandey (Johnson) Ackerman
Dear all,On Thursday June 7 Brandey (Johnson) Ackerman died in a bike accident (struck by a motorist). She was an active member of the Aggie Speleological Society and graduate of Texas A&M in 2001. I write to inform and also to see if any of you may have pictures of her that you wouldn't mind sending along to me and to the following email address:brandeymemor...@gmail.com to possibly be included in an album for her children. ASS is trying to plan a reunion and memorial to honor the lives of both Brandey Ackerman February 6, 1979 – June 7, 2018 and Sarah (Springer) Beadle November 12, 1978 - August 2, 2017 who have died within the last year in tragic (non-caving) accidents. I had the pleasure of knowing both of these beautiful, smart, funny, strong women during my years in ASS (Fall 1999-Spring 2003). I did not learn that Brandey was a practicing pediatrician until I read the news story reporting her death as she did not enter medical school immediately after graduating from Texas A&M. Sarah was a practicing emergency medicine physician. Both ladies have left behind loving husbands and children, parents, siblings, other family, and of course numerous friends. I write this to help in my own grieving and to remind everyone how precious and wonderful life is and to never miss an opportunity to tell someone how much you love and care about them.
