Pamplona, Spain - A Belgian cave researcher was Wednesday rescued from a
cave located at a depth of 600 metres underground in the Pyrenees on the
border
between Spain and France, Spanish police said. Anette Van Houtte, 49, who had
entered the cave with several other scientists, had been stuck in the cave
for four days after suffering a foot injury.

Nearly 100 rescuers from both sides of the border participated in the risky
rescue operation, transporting Van Houtte for four kilometres through narrow
tunnels. She was reported to be in relatively good health.
