[Texascavers] passports

2007-07-17 Thread Bill Mixon
All the news about Locklear's passport has reminded me that I saw a
statement in the New York Times a couple of weeks ago, in an article about
the problem with passport delays impacting air and sea travelers to Canada,
Mexico, and the Caribbean, that the date for requiring passports for land
(i.e., car) travelers returning from Canada and Mexico has been put off
until summer 2008. Has anybody seen anything more definite about that? --

You forgot to add: and pay the fine for returning it after it expired,
otherwise you cant get another
one.. They have a computer network now and all of the border crossings are
linked. They wont let you get another permit at a different crossing

[Texascavers] passports: READ THE DIRECTIONS

2007-07-04 Thread Katherine Arens

Thanks to David Locklear for the stories.
THE SUMMARY: they told everyone OVER THREE YEARS AGO we'd need them.
As late as last October, the wait for passport processing was less
than 4 weeks (we processed one). They said EVERYONE in a family
needs their own -- family passports wouldn't work any more.
OK, people: moral of the story: GO GET YOUR PASSPORT, your kids'
passports, your renewals, etc. NOW.

SUBCLAUSE: and while you're doing it, RETURN YOUR MEXICO TOURIST
STICKERS OFF ALL YOUR VEHICLES.
