According to this article a new study shows hybrids not the best choice for budget minded consumers. http://www.latimes.com/classified/automotive/highway1/la-fi-cars26-2008jun26,0,139265.story Duh!!! Instead of having a new study, they could have read my Cavetex post from 6 frickin years ago. The media leaders that run news agencies are 100 percent run by dumb-asses. Why don't they do a more practical study to show how many hybrid battery packs are still in operation after 6 years?Or how frickin expensive it was to purchase the tires that came on the Honda Insight. Why don't they disect a Honda Civic Hybrid and show you where all the weight saving areas were cut that will affect safety if you are in a car crash?Or try to find a auto mechanic that can rebuild the hybrid components between the electric motor and the gas motor?Or show what happens to an electric car when you accidentally drive into a submerged road? Did you know that the motor-scooter industry is only about 9 years behind the car industry in hybrid production? Did you know their proto-types are on par with the research going on in the car industry? In a few months you should start hearing about hybrid motor-scooters. http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/Photos/Piaggio_HyS_4.jpg http://gizmag.com/pictures/7730_20807100311_8.jpg http://gizmag.com/pictures/7730_20807100333_21.jpg Look for it first in a 125 cc version in stores by February of 2009 ( probably not here in Texas though ) Note it has 2 front wheels that pivot when it goes into turns. This will be great in places where scooters work well such as island communities, resort areas, college towns, etc. I can foresee a day where small towns with pleasant climates will have lots of hybrid scooters that get 200 mpg using a bio-fuel. Maybe some towns in Florida? However, by then there will be cars that hold 4 passengers and get 75 mpg. The 2009 Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner will gain .2 liters of engine displacement ( meaning more power ), yet be more fuel efficient. ( possibly getting 1 mpg better ) I think this is because they are replacing the 4 speed automatic transmission with a 6-speed automatic. - Give this to a friend: ot-subscr...@texascavers.com To unsubscribe, e-mail: ot-unsubscr...@texascavers.com For additional commands, e-mail: ot-h...@texascavers.com
