Scott:
You're kidding, right? Every county has its own
folder of files, organized alphabetically. How hard
can it be? After all, there are only 800+ caves and
karst features in Williamson Co. Or, are you looking
for some wizened old-timer to tell you that he knows
exactly what hole in the ground you are talking about?
C'mon dude, digging thru the TSS files isn't half as
hard as digging.

Andy G.

P.S. You can always submit a TSS cave report and
include whatever info you have on your find. They
might be able to help you pinpoint it that way.

Maintained by The Texas Speleological Survey

TexBib is a searchable bibliographic database for Texas caves. It is
primarily the product of over 40 years of work by James Reddell with
contributions
from other TSS directors. Jerry Atkinson currently manages the TexBib project.
David McKenzie wrote Reselect, the search engine program which is
downloadable with the bibliography below. The bibliography can be searched by

science journals, newspapers, magazines, theses, dissertations, and any other

Re: CaveTex: Gerogetown Caving

2007-03-26 Thread George Veni
Texas Speleological Survey (TSS) has nearly 4000 caves and karst features
entered into its digital database. The range of location accuracy ranges
from a few meters to a few thousand meters. About a third of the caves do
not have any location information. Some of this missing information is
contained in the paper files and needs to be entered into the database.
There are also probably hundreds of caves in the paper files that need to
be entered into the digital database. All of this work happens by cavers
around the state volunteering their time to key in data, scan maps, draft
maps, and write reports. The new on-line data report form makes it
incredibly easy for any caver with Internet access to submit information to
TSS, which benefits all cavers. TSS welcomes help from anyone who wants to
improve the quality and quantity of the files. TSS makes the data available
to support exploration, research, conservation, and education. To request
data from the TSS, visit our website and look under the request data tab
for details at: www.txspeleologicalsurvey.org
