Re: [Texascavers] [SWR] To Bats, Trees and Turbines Are One in the Same
Thanks, Jim. I was sure there had to be research going on for solutions. I'll take a look. I am also sure it is not a simple solution. I just hope a viable one is identified. Re: [Texascavers] [SWR] To Bats, Trees and Turbines Are One in the Same
This is a layman's thoughts on it, but I would think some form of sonic alarm would keep them away, something that they could only hear and would deter them safely. I know some advocates suggest we tear down every turbine, but I question the motives on this idea, wondering if it's not big oil and energy companies behind a lot of it. How bad is the impact on our wildlife from these, compared to other forms of energy generation (coal fired energy and coal extraction for instance). Sheryl, It's not a simple problem with an easy solution. There has been a whole lot of research regarding bats and wind turbines. I keep seeing this posted as a 'problem' and it is. I don't see posts that consider solutions. I am sure there are viable solutions. There always are and I think that should be the focus. Of course, I may have missed the posts discussing ways to solve the problem. I don't always read every word. I would like to know if there are any thoughts on how to protect the fliers from the turbines. This has been a big problem for birds for years, especially large groups of migrating birds. > From: stefan.crea...@arm.com > To: texascavers@texascavers.com; s...@caver.net > Date: Wed, 1 Oct 2014 08:21:22 + > Subject: Re: [SWR] [Texascavers] To Bats, Trees and Turbines Are One in > the Same > > Another message from the Southwestern Region Email List! > "Hundreds and thousands"?
