It'a also a good idea to wear PPE when you're injecting dye to make sure you 
don't accidently contaminate the results back in the lab.

Good point, in our case, the person who injects the dye is never assigned to 
collect the water or charcoal samples and doesn't perform the analytical tests.

Diana,

Good question, while the dye is non toxic, it is still dye and will stain 
your clothes and skin.  It's just easier to wear gloves and coveralls so 
that when you're done, you can strip down and don't have to worry as much 
about transfering the dye to your car, caving gear, or equipment.
