Survex includes some vi syntax-colouring definition files. These might
be a good start for making a therion vi mode. I'll put them in the
debian packaging if any are provided.

i am interested.

i use vi, but i do not disregard emacs, and
think that syntax highlight makes editing therion
file so much easier ...

As far as I know, drawing area has no restrictions - it is there only to set
scrolling region in fact.

You can adjust it by your self in "Drawing area" toolbar. Either enter x-y
min-max and press "Adjust" button or usually pressing "Auto adjust" button
does its job (it adjusts area that all background images are shown on the
"white
space").
