[Therion] Wall visibility affecting lox model

If there is a chimney, by my meaning, the border of chimney should by the wall, because it is wall, and only part which is inside the contours of the passage should the chimney line. Another problem is transparent pit, because there is no passage below, so it is a hole to nowhere. m. -- next part -- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... It is only way how to correctly draw sitution if passages in two levels are connected in one cave room - it means there is a passage going from bottom of room and another one just under the ceiling. And they are one above another. Check the attached pictures. The overhangs there have typicaly -outline out -clip off. m. -- next part -- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... [Therion] Join seeks out walls or outlines?
Further to our conversations on the special properties of walls. Just to clarify my understanding of what it is that makes them different to other lines; 1. by default have -outline out set, and so define the boundaries of a scrap 2. by default have -clip on set, and so some symbols are clipped at the wall 3. have their own special subtypes, and altitude labelling, that are not available to other lines 4. are used by the scrap join algorithm to decide which lines to join I'd like to check that last one, which is as described in the Therion Book pg 30. However, is it really the wall line-type that the join scrap1 scrap2 7 statement uses to decide how to join the 7 passages that connect scrap 1 with scrap 2. Or is it the -outline in/out property of the lines that the join statement reacts to? (as could almost implied from outline definition pg 28 of Therion Book) This has implications if one joins scraps rather a lot. Bruce -- next part -- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... [Therion] wall + loch
Andrew Atkinson proposed a solution in November last year http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.gis.therion/2853/match=outline+out A work around that is currently available would be to draw the scrap to suit pdf output, and use 'revise' before the export when the scrap is to be included in a model output. It would be better to have this pit as outer outline and have wall oposite to it with "-outline none" specification. But then it will not look good in 3D. Unless there will be separate outline for 3D and for 2D supported, this situation will be difficult to solve. Best regards, S. -- next part -- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... [Therion] Wall visibility affecting lox model
>You may use any line symbol as "wall" (in fact as a scrap outline) . all you need to do is to add "-outline out" option to it. At first I thought this is a revolutionary idea! Then I searched the Therion Book and discovered that it has long been described in the chapters 'How to draw maps' and 'Scrap' on pg 21. Thanks for pointing it out, I must try it out.
