[tw] Install help - 'server_prefix' not considered ?

2010-12-01 Thread S. Raimer
Hi all,

I've followed the install instructions on http://tiddlyweb.peermore.com/wiki/
an everything works fine (wsgi).

My Problem is, that I can reach correctly the "HOME" Entry Page of
TiddlyWeb (1.2.8), but the
"server_prefix"-value, that I adapted in tiddlywebconfig.py is not
used at all (The Links to "recipes" and "bags" point only to the
server without the prefix).

Any Ideas / Help ??

Thank you,
S. Raimer

(I've tried to set the prefix through a single line
server_host = { }
server_prefix = '/wiki'
config = { }

as well as to mak 'server_prefix' a line in the config-options)

Seems your configuration is wrong - here's a sample tiddlywebconfig.py
from a fresh TiddlyWebWiki instance:
config = {
'secret': '...',
'system_plugins': ['tiddlywebwiki'],
'twanager_plugins': ['tiddlywebwiki'],
'server_prefix': '/wiki'
}

[tw] Re: MasterIncludes Questions

2010-12-01 Thread PMario
hi skye,
If you have FireBug installed and open while loading the page, it
says:
>> getXMLHttpRequest is not defined <<
and points to line 154 in MasterIncludesPlugin.js

function getRemoteData(uri) {
152 if(window.Components && window.netscape &&
window.netscape.security && !isHttp(document.location.protocol))
153
window.netscape.security.PrivilegeManager.enablePrivilege("UniversalBrowserRead");
154 var XHR = getXMLHttpRequest();
155 if(XHR) {

So it seems, that there is an initialisation error. May be you need a
different init order.

[tw] Re: MasterIncludes Questions

2010-12-01 Thread skye riquelme
Thanks PMario

I more or less confirmed that myselfusing a vanila version of
tinytiddly on the browser...and slowly adding in the tiddlers from the
original client.html..it keeps working until I set the reference
to MasterIncludesPlugin.js..then it breaks. Seems that
MasterIncludesPlugin can´t handle http addresses. For example in the
local copy of clientI used the urls that point to the same files
on the serverno startchange the adresses back to local
address...everything fine.

Messing with the javascript of MasterIncludesPlugin.js is somewhat
beyond my capabilities...I will have to hope that someone with
good javascript has the time to look into this plugin..I really
like this plugin, with the way it works locallybut if it falls
down over httpits not much use to me !!!

Thanks

2010-12-01 Thread skye riquelme
HI azurikai

For linking to those pdfsthe simplest way would be to install
Erics (http://www.tiddlytools.com/) FramedLinksPlugin..and then
you such put the link to the pdf in a tiddler...with title, tags
etcwhen you click on that link.Erics plugin opens it as an
iframe inside your TiddlyWiki.simple and works like a charm...

I personally use a variation on this theme... effectively writing my
own iframes. I often want to reference other types of documents
(photos, videos, music - information comes in many forms todaynot
just written text...although many university professors havent got to
realise that yet!!!).so, with the help of great people from this
list...I managed to create a script that opens a html form - that lets
me input the details..document title, url (local or http), tags,
description and then the document type (html, music, foto, video,
text...)...on hitting the "add" button...the code generates a tiddler
correctly coded for that type of fileso a html ( including pdfs)
generates an iframe that opens the page.video (here I insert the
videio embed code)...wraps the code in markers, som wraps the
url into Erics PlayerPlugin format and foto generates the normal foto
format (in this case with caption)to get this working you
need InlineJavascriptPlugin, HTMLFormattingPlugin, PlayerPlugin (all
from Eric)...and maybe a few otherscan't remember.

This maybe overkill in your case..but if you are
interested...contact me directly and I can send you the script

For studying I also work with a TiddlyWiki formatted (stylesheet) into
five columns.the far left column shows a series of icons which
control various parts of the system - includes a button that opens the
above script ina popup) next from the left the main topics.the
next fo the left shows the subtopics of the main topic (when
selected)...then comes the main display...where most of the action is
seen!!! and over to the right a list of the references relevant to the
item that is currently open in the main display..obviously the
links creating brother and son tiddlers is in the tiddler
toolbar.which changes depending on what sort (tagged) tiddler you
are viewing (that uses Erics TaggedTemplatePlugin)...

All this may be too muchbut we can talk if you want more detailed
information

Here's my 0.5€
Use Zotero for storing your pdfs. It really is the tool for the job.
Download the pdf and metadata in one go from Google Scholar

Use TW for cut and pasting stuff from the web and getting ideas going.

Jay Fresh had a good tip: use Readability [2] to change the style of
webpages before you save them in Zotero. Makes reading and annotating
them a lot easier.

I sometimes edit a webpage after it has been re-styled in Readability
using Ubiquity and the edit command.

Hi Azurikai

> P.S I'm running into annoying trouble on linking files and such (my
> professors give me lots of PDF's and such), whats the best way to link

I believe I answered your question (or tried to anyway..) in this
thread:
http://groups.google.com/group/tiddlywiki/browse_thread/thread/37b4696e272e931e/96e5d799fc6b3f48?hl=da&q=dropbox#96e5d799fc6b3f48

If you want to be be OS-agnostic (be able to open a pdf in the browser
on all platforms - not only Windows)
I think you should consider using googles online pdf-viewer for your
dropbox-served pdfs.
Create a tiddler [[PdfView]].
Copy the online address to your directory containing your pdfs
and write:
http://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http://
dl.dropbox.com/u/xxx/$1&embedded=true" width="600" height="780"
style="border: none;">

(the seven x's are some numbers)

Now you can use this as a template to open pdfs from some directory of
yours by writing:
<>

If you always use the same directory for your pdfs you might as well
put it in the PdfView template url i.e:
"url=http://dl.dropbox.com/u/xxx/YourPdfDirectory/$1";

You might even consider putting it into your ViewTemplate like this:

and name your pdf-tiddler= PdfName.pdf

NB: The google pdfviewer needs to serve pdf-files via http, and you
*can* use relative paths to you pdf directories - IF you watch your TW
from your public link - however you loose editing capabilities...
Therefore my advice is to set up your local TW to serve the public
link for your pdfs instead...

Cheers Måns Mårtensson

Re: [tw] Re: TiddlyWiki for college note taking

2010-12-01 Thread Anthony Muscio
Back to your overall use for study notes I think using headings inside your
tiddler content using the ! and !! formatting not only looks good but with
the
http://www.TiddlyTools.com/#SectionLinksPluginyou
can also use the sectionTOC (Table of Contents) to automatically list
all sections at the top so you can jump to each section. I also only show
this toc if the tiddler is tagged toc so I can switch it on/off. (Using
showwhen) in view template.

Enjoy

2010-12-01 Thread azurikai
yes you did answer my question and i thank you :) I have been using
your method and was just looking for other ways (such as the iFrame on
that was introduced earlier in this thread).

@Alex Hough, my university actually developed Zotero, and I haven't
really thought about trying it out. I signed up for it and haven't
given it a try yet. I really wanna try this iFrame method right now
though.
