Re: [tw5] Getting backlinks from shadow tiddlers

2021-04-08 Thread Mohammad Rahmani
Here Soren likes to distribute a book using plugin. There were other
requests to have a plugin subtype or similar mechanism to
distribute presentations, lecture notes, etc..

So, with reference to discussion on GitHub
https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5/discussions/5462#discussion-2560493
and the current request, a plugin subtype or a simple mechanism to
distribute materials in similar form and yet have the flexibility
of non shadow tiddlers (like backlinks, simple semantic name instead of
$://name) could of a requested feature in TW 5.1.24

Check out $:/core/ui/ViewTemplate, but the code may be talking about a
custom ViewTemplate tiddler, or a tiddler that is supposed to be tagged
with "$:/tags/ViewTemplate", or something else.

Please post some more details about what you are trying to do, for
clarification.

[tw5] Re: Getting backlinks from shadow tiddlers

2021-04-08 Thread Soren Bjornstad
Thanks for the tips, and for the submitted feature request! Since in this
case I know what plugin tiddler the backlinks will be coming from, I was
able to hack together a version that comes at the links from the other
direction, which presumably isn't terribly performant but seems to work all
right:

[[$:/plugins/sobjornstad/GrokTiddlyWiki]plugintiddlers[]]
:filter[links[]match] [all[current]backlinks[]]

Since the backlinks aren't visible until you click an expand button, I
don't think the performance hit will be noticeable.

Hi,

To move it to the right, wrap it in a div (you may want to play with the

<$list filter="[all[current]has:field[published]]">

And to bring it to the top, add a field called "list-before" and set the

Hi!

This can be achieved with the $:/tags/ViewTemplate tag. Make a tiddler
tagged with '$:/tags/ViewTemplate'. This will make the contents of this
tiddler appear on any tiddler in your wiki. Then copy the following inside
the tiddler:

<$list filter="[all[current]has:field[published] ]">

The list acts like an if statement. If the current tiddler you are
looking at has the field published, it will show the contents of the
published field.
You can adjust the position of the contents with list-after and
list-before fields.

Hope that helps!

@Soren It's ugly, and maybe you have already thought of it, but you could
try something like this:

<$list filter="[all[current]]">
<$vars lb="" rb="">
<$vars search-term={} >
<$list filter="[all[shadows]search]">
<$link> <>

You could use the regex operator to also get backlinks for links that use
the | syntax or camel case.

Re: [tw5] Getting backlinks from shadow tiddlers

2021-04-08 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Hi Soren

I can confirm that the backlinks operator does not currently consider links
from shadow tiddlers. There would be performance and backwards compatibility
implications to changing the default, but we could consider adding an
option/switch.

I've created a GitHub ticket here:

https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5/issues/5594

Best wishes

Jeremy

[tw5] The sorting order mystery!?

2021-04-08 Thread Mat
Copy-past the below code e.g on tiddlywiki.com , and look at it in editor
preview and hide the sidebar.

*What causes the different sorting orders in the two lists?*

I.e when the $:/tags/ViewTemplate has no list content (as deleted with the
button), why are the items not equally sorted? Rearranging the links (by
dragn'drop) does sort them equally.

What can I do to have both lists in the same order *by default*? What order
is that in the list-tagged-draggable? I see no sorting operator in its code.

Any ideas?

<:-)

$:/tags/ViewTemplate <$button set="$:/tags/ViewTemplate!!list"
setTo="">x

<$list
filter="[all[tiddlers+shadows]tag[$:/tags/ViewTemplate]sortby{$:/tags/ViewTemplate!!list}]">
<$text text=/>

<$macrocall $name="list-tagged-draggable" tag="$:/tags/ViewTemplate"/>

[tw5] Re: Splitregexp at : but not at $:

2021-04-08 Thread Mat
@Saq, much appreciated. Your filter is good but/and thanks to it I realized
I need a "split*before*regexp". The idea is to use it to extract things in
a dictionary so I circumvented the "$*:*/" issue by instead searching for
colon+space. This is less than optimal because users might not stick to
that when they type in an entry... but it's good enough.

Here's the result for anyone curious. Soon to be included in an updated
HackSearch:

\define search-inner()
<$vars hasterm="""[enlist-input[]match[$(searchterm)$]]""">
 <$list
filter="""[[dic]get[text]splitregexp[\n]prefixfilterthen]""">

\end

<$vars searchterm=searchterm >
 <$list
filter="""[[dic]get[text]splitregexp[\n]regexpsplitbefore[:
]removesuffix[: ]]""" variable=candidate>
 <>

Good start Mark,

The current fields are displayed
New fields can be added
the field name does not filter names as you type
enter key on adding the new fields works
other shortcuts does not work

[tw5] Getting backlinks from shadow tiddlers

2021-04-08 Thread Soren Bjornstad
Is there any way I can obtain backlinks that exist within shadow tiddlers
(i.e., tiddler B is a shadow tiddler that links to tiddler A, and I want to
see that link with, e.g., [[A]backlinks[]])? I've placed most of the
content of *Grok TiddlyWiki *in a plugin to make it easy to update in the
future, but this seems to have broken the backlinks display (no backlinks
are ever detected to anything). I don't see any options to the filter
operator or anything like that.

It's fairly important that the backlinks be available, so I'm not quite
sure what to do if there's no known way to accomplish this – any thoughts?

To simplify it I decided to transclude the core tiddler e.g

So if you like to reproduce the whole work

1. open https://tiddlywiki.com/prerelease/

*title*: my view fields
*tags*: $:/tags/ViewTemplate
*text*: <$transclude tiddler="$:/core/ui/EditTemplate/fields"/>

3. create a test tiddler with fields like *fld1 fld2 *with some test values
4. save test tiddler and see fields in view mode

I have attached it for your convenience.

It works but there are two issues
1. the keyboard shortcuts do not work

I think some variables are not set correctly in my solution above! e.g we

Re: [tw5] Hangouts - still going?

2021-04-08 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Hi David, David,

I’d be interested to restart the hangouts again. I revived them last year with
terrible timing, we kicked them off 10 days before I got COVID:

https://groups.google.com/g/tiddlywiki/c/GBgXVMmtQdo/m/_Ul0D11lAQAJ

We then restarted them for a few weeks when I recovered, but then had to stop
again when I developed long COVID. It’s a bit better now, and I’m better at
managing it so I think it’s worth another try.

I’m open to suggestions as to whether we stick to the interview format we used
last year, or try something else.

In terms of help, I’d be very happy if somebody was able to step up and take
over production of the hangouts, but happy to accept any other help in the
meantime.

One boring area where I would definitely appreciate some help is with the
subtitle transcription, which is very tedious and slow — for a 45 minute video
it was taking me 2-3 hours. I’ve been doing it with YouTube’s subtitle editor
which is oddly clunky and hard to use. Some light Googling suggests that
YouTube does let me give somebody else the ability to edit subtitles on my
behalf.

Best wishes

Jeremy

@Mark, my point in sharing is not to recommend the app as opposed to
TiddlyWiki or even to recommend it at all. Same for my post a moment ago
regarding Supernotes. My point is simply that we can use some aspects of
these sites as inspiration for TiddlyWiki.

[tw5] Supernotes

2021-04-08 Thread David Gifford
Yet another notetaking app! This looks very similar to TiddlyWiki both in
the notecard idea and the non-hierarchical focus. And it is a source of
inspiration for ideas of what could be done in TiddlyWiki. Things to try in
Supernotes:

- type the / in a note to call up a popup to add elements.
- go to the ? at bottom right to open a cheat sheet to the left of the note.
- check out the filters section in the left sidebar
- click the down arrow next to home, and choose the seamless option
- pin a note or notes to the right
- more interesting stuff in the video, link below
- click the share button and see how to embed a notecard. I added height to
the embed code to make it embed nicer in a tiddler.

There are lots of things I don't like: for example, linking is a pain
compared to TiddlyWiki. And a lot of features are really well hidden. Makes
for a clean UI, but one has to remember where to find things. I wouldn't
use this over TiddlyWiki for my purposes, even the limited free version.
But it is helpful to check out.

[tw5] Re: Mem

2021-04-08 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
Well, there's no "there" there -- we're only allowed to see a video.

Whenever an app allows collaboration, it means a server is running
somewhere. Which means someone has to pay for the server, and that your
data might be exposed on the cloud. Which means there will likely be a cost
for the service. It seems like none of these services offer reasonable
prices -- they always jump right in at the $100 per year rate. Never $25 a
year. And of course, unless you know your data is encrypted, you have no
idea whether it is secure or not. Your data is often stranded on an island,
not able to ever get off except slowly, piece by piece. Sometimes "helpful"
exports are allowed into obscure formats, like OPML . Try finding an app
that understands OPML!

Saving from the web isn't that hard in TW. The hard part is the need to
offload images and text to the local hard drive in order to assure
performance. I keep hoping that we'll have a convenient way to convert
captured work into local files. I think what Saq is doing will help with
that, though it requires node.js. A possibility is a plugin tool where you
could nominate tiddlers to be part of a zip bundle. Download the bundle.
Unzip. Now your bundled objects (images, texts) are stored on the local
hard drive. So you could have a work flow where you periodically purge
locally captured material onto the hard drive.

Thank you for the explanation. Unfortunately, I don't know how to find my

I tried plugging different things like "$:/core/ui/ViewTemplate" and

Hi Folks,
Hi Mohammad,

PLEASE DON'T use username: admin and password: admin in your examples
without big red letters: Encrypt your passwords or you are f*&%$!

There are users out there, which copy/paste configuration examples and
think they work. ... But they DON'T!.

Mohammand. You used address: 127.0.0.1 which is localhost. ... That's good!

The OP used address: 0.0.0.0, which is dangerous in production. It listens
on every IP address the server can find. It's similar to "My house is wide
open, take what you can!"

The orginal configuration examples contains several parameters that can
increase security. ALL of them should be understood and configured!
eg: CORS settings should be disabled for local installation. CORS is only
needed if the server faces the internet or is used in multi-user LAN. It
should only be enabled, if you know, what you do!!

Just my thoughts!

have fun!

[tw5] Re: Dear David (giffmex) .... where is your Plugin LIBRARY? :-)

2021-04-08 Thread David Gifford
Thanks TT

I think if I start getting more ideas for plugins I will do a plugin
library. But so far there are only two: Customizer and its precursor
Toggle. Stroll is more like an edition and is a mishmash of other people's
plugins. And BLT is just 5 or 6 tiddlers, not even worth the time to
pacakge as a plugin. My hope is that I can move on and focus on other
projects, using TW but not specifically for TW.

[tw5] Re: inluding macros

2021-04-08 Thread Jean-Pierre Rivière
Many thanks Eric. \import works fine here.

I'll be using it for helper macros required by system-wide true macros.
That will help clean things. a declaration akin to private for a macro
would be a lot better though.

Also, when I looked at pragma, it mentions \rules which is used in
https://tiddlywiki.com/static/Using%2520Stylesheets.html with arguments.
It's still not much documentation although it's worthwhile reading. Where
could I fetch some more information about \rules (its grammar, its
parameters, its use cases) ?

[tw5] Spacing in ordered lists in Markdown Tiddlers

2021-04-08 Thread Andy Pastuszak

When I create ordered lists in markdown tiddlers, I get a space between
each item in the ordered lists.

Creating ordered lists using TW5 does not create these spaces.

My Markdown looks like this:

1. List Item 1
2. List Item 2
3. List Item 3

My TW5 looks like this:

# List Item 1
# List Item 2
# List Item 3

[tw5] Re: inluding macros

2021-04-08 Thread Jean-Pierre Rivière
On solution to my problem is to tag my sample macro tiddler as a system
macro.

But this has the problems that its macros are now public and their names
must now be made unique.

I can do that by calling my macro as demo-for-this-and-that instead of just
macros (including helpers macros, which would clutter my main macro code).

and at the beginning of my how to tiddler I would add:

\define demo(foo:bar etc) <>

not very nice neither very practical but the best I could do so far.

[tw5] inluding macros

2021-04-08 Thread Jean-Pierre Rivière
Macro should be at the beginning of a tiddler before anything else.

IMHO there could be an exception: including macros.

Here is my use case: I'm writing a tutorial/how-to about difficulties in TW
programming. I illustrate my points with sample macros. I want to show the
code within my articles and expose the output of invoicing the macros there
as well.

I don't want to copy-paste the code. This is not pedagogic and prone to
errors.

I know how to do this for code which does not include macros.

For code with macro definitions, my how-to tiddler would begin by

{{my-sample-macros]]

which would be replaced by

\define foo() bar

which would be OK as far as macro definitions is concerned IF my exception
was an implemented feature.

Now' There could be a way around if there is a mean to dynamically create a
new tiddler with the include already done, a tiddler that I would use for
viewing, keeping the tiddler with the macro-including-start as a source of
my tiddler. I have not yet explored that way as I am deeply ignorant about
dynamic creation of tiddlers yet.

Re: [tw5] Re: Rendering colored symbols

2021-04-08 Thread Mat
Mark,

after inspecting the code in your file, I'd say Tones suggestion is your
best bet if you want to type the symbols *directly *like you're doing. I.e
in the code it reads

2♥

(which you might have typed as |2♥| to create a table cell )

AFAIK, it is not possible to only color *some *symbols red inside that.

So, either the browser has to show certain symbols in special ways or you
need to use something more accessible like a macro or a transclusion. I
would suggest using macros instead and you could then type
club/heart/spade/diamond like so:

<><><><> it could also be <<♥>> etc.

and these can be made to show the symbol in any color.

If this syntax is good enough for you, but you need help to implement it,
just say so.

[tw5] Splitregexp at : but not at $:

2021-04-08 Thread Mat
I hope to improve HackSearch with a
*search* field so that users can add custom "search terms" in a dictionary
to find tiddler titles that are used as dictionary indexes e.g like so:

$:/core/UI/ViewTemplate/body : body text main field

I.e searching for, say, "text" returns that system title.

I have it working for non-system titles but one of the filter ops used is
splitbefore[:] to split out the dictionary index in the entry row, but this
doesn't work when the index is a system title because of the colon in $*:*
/...

So I need *a splitregexp that only accepts : but not $:*

Any help is welcome.

Thank you.

[tw5] Last Wednesday On Github ...

2021-04-08 Thread TiddlyTweeter
I've been working on search tools to help find what we need to find more
exactly ...

*I'll eventually provide a tool. *

BUT, actually, URL searches are the basis of many search engines and are
EASY to benefit from if you know what to enter ...

For instance, finding "Last" + "Wednesday" in the TW5 Github is pretty easy
... https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5/search?q=last%20Wednesday

Or finding CSS relevant Titles (only) on TiddlyWiki Toolmap ...
https://dynalist.io/d/zUP-nIWu2FFoXH-oM7L7d9DM#q=in%3Atitle%20css

Best wishes

{}

is identical to {}

Depending on how the input text will be used, the change in syntax may have
significant consequences for rendering of links, finding backlinks and
freelinks etc.

Diego,

Try this below, notice the subtle difference in annotation for the spaced
tiddler? Then in the remove prefix we are talking about the tiddlername.

\define input() aribrart text .. .etc. # ... @title1 @title2 [[@title
with space]]

{}

Has your computer got a unicode aware font? When displaying unicode

2021-04-08 Thread TW Tones
Mohammad,

I reproduced this my self also in preview mode of FieldMangler Widget
(Examples ) on
tiddlywiki.com.

This is without creating a new tiddler.

Yes, I think it is a bug, perhaps as a result of the tiddler being in draft
mode, the changes "also" occur on the draft tiddler which is then saved.

[tw5] Re: trying to set tags to

2021-04-08 Thread TW Tones
Geert,

The are a number of ways to achieve this here is one, inside a macro we can
use substitution variables.
\define newhere()
<$button> <$action-sendmessage $message="tm-new-tiddler" title=<> text="" tags="$(currentTiddler)$" /> New
Tiddler
\end
<>

But this button already exists in the view toolbar. See new here button.

If we want to we can transclude it where we want and use "||" to apply it
to the current tiddler

[tw5] Possible [Bug] in add-tm-field and add-tm-tag widget messages

2021-04-08 Thread Mohammad
1. Open https://tiddlywiki.com/
2. Create a new tiddler with below text

<$button>Tag me
<$fieldmangler tiddler=MyTiddler>
<$list filter="one two" variable=item>
<$action-sendmessage $message="tm-add-field" $param=<>/>

3. don't save and open preview pan
4. click on the button
5. MyTiddler is created and fields are added but surprisingly the fields
also added to the tiddler in preview!!

The same happened with `tm-add-tag`

Note: If you save the tiddler and click the button, you wont see the above
issue!

Expected behavior: the operation shall only be applied to the tiddler
mentioned in fieldmangler widget!

[tw5] trying to set tags to

2021-04-08 Thread Geert Geurts

Hi All

I'm trying to create a button which pressing it creates a tiddler tagged
with the title of the tiddler where the button resides. So I have a tiddler
named "New Tiddler" with a button. Once I click this button I want to get a
new tiddler tagged "New Tiddler".

I cam this far:
<$button> <$action-sendmessage $message="tm-new-tiddler" title=<> text="" tags= /> New Tiddler

But that gives two tags "New" and "Tiddler", and using the following:
<$button> <$action-sendmessage $message="tm-new-tiddler" title=<> text="" tags= /> New Tiddler

Tags it with ""...

Regards,

Geert

2021-04-08 Thread Mark Salib
Hi guys, thanks for the responses. I have attached a sample below. On my
laptop all card symbols are black :)
Thanks again!
