Oh my! Sorry I've been really busy with work, I'll get to it this weekend!

Will adding an option to offset Whitespace's topbar help with your use
case? So the MebuBar is topmost and Whitespace topbar is below it?

I have a very dumb question: when I remove a sidebar "card" with

Also, I made the top control buttons area (the hover area that
shows the control buttons) 50px as I have 2 rows. How can I move the

 it up slightly?

Re: [tw5] Re: Whitespace theme and Stroll incompatibility? (JD)

2020-08-18 Thread E Browns
Hi Ste! Thanks for helping me keep this theme up to date!

Mono styles the topbar for narrow screens, which means, on its own it
doesn't need a separate mobile plugin.

However, if you'd like to use the core Menubar plugin, or any other topbar
plugin, I can update Mono so that its topbar both in narrow and wide
screens can be offset (to accomodate the extra space needed by the
additional topbar) up to the distance of user's choice.

Do you think that can be a good compromise? My main desire for my themes is
for them to be very accomodating to other plugins as well!

After the update of the stories plugin, also 2 viewtemplates from Dave

Re: [tw5] Re: New goody for Stroll - outliner

2020-08-13 Thread E Browns
Ooh, but a plus on what Tony said, of a smarter detection.

Maybe...

`
# item
# item
object
`

When row 2 and 3 are selected then [tab] will produce

`
# item
## item
# object
`

But a linebreak separation will default it to an asterisk? Where the
selection of row 2, [linebreak] and row4 here:

`
# item
# item

object
`

Will produce

`
# item
## item

 * object
`

The expected will be that [tab] will consider the row above it, defaulting
to * if the above row is blank, and defaulting to [linebreak] * if the
above row is not blank but does not contain (# or *)... Where [linebreak]
will facilitate list wikification.

So how it considers what to add when above row begins with (# or *)...
Maybe like this?

Samples on row2 and row3 selection...

`
# item
#* item
object
`

Becomes

`
# item
#** item
# object
`

And

`
# item
#* item
#* object
`

Becomes

`
# item
#** item
#** object
`
I wonder if others have the same expectations?

Thanks for considering it, Saq! It will make for a more wonderful workflow,
mobile-wise.

I agree it might produce interferences while editting. Maybe while the node
is not in edit mode? Or maybe just along the left margin right outside the
textbox? Whatever the implementation might be I'd love to try it!

Thanks again, i'll also look into the issue you linked!

Re: [tw5] Re: Possible simple modification for editing full screen?

2020-08-02 Thread E Browns
Hi Tony! Yeah I think it boils down to a preference on which method to use?

For the third bullet, cloning the svg, I think it's unnecessary when the
intent is /just/ to change a color (of course when there are other changes
I don't see why not ^^, ). So as to make the plugin more compact, why not
just add a class to the custom button and retain the use of the core svg?

The second bullet is a nice approach but will kinda break compatibility in
a very miniscule way I think. When the intent is to always mimic the look
of the core edit button with just the color change, it won't update when
for some reason down the line, the core edit svg is updated

So again I think it comes down to personal preference because they're all
correct approaches! As you can tell I prefer fewer tids, which isn't a bad
thing but is somewhat(?) against the principle of tiddlers: even the
smallest should be ready to be reusable hehe.

Thanks for outlining the different approaches!

Re: [tw5] Re: Possible simple modification for editing full screen?

2020-08-02 Thread E Browns
Cool! But it should be a core feature to be able to go back to the
previously selected state of the sidebar on save or cancel, atleast!

Just add this action before the hide-action on the edit button:

<$action-setfield $tiddler="$:/state/sidebar/save" text={{{
[[$:/state/sidebar]is[tiddler]!text[]then{$:/state/sidebar!!text}else[yes]]
}}}/>

Then on your cancel and save buttons, instead of always showing it, get the
value of the previous state/save:

<$action-setfield $tiddler="$:/state/sidebar"
text={{$:/state/sidebar/save}}/>

Also, forgive me i'm just wondering, why the new svg's? Wouldn't it make
for a smaller plugin to just add a single css tiddler targetting your
buttons, then on your buttons add a class that's unique you?

Sample, add a stylesheet to your plugin with text:

.am-green svg { fill: green !important; }

And to your edit button, for example, return the core edit button image and
just replace the class:

\whitespace trim
<$button
  message="tm-edit-tiddler"
  tooltip={{$:/language/Buttons/Edit/Hint}}
  aria-label="Am Edit"
  class={{{ [addsuffix[ am-green]] }}}
>
<$list filter="[match[yes]]">
{{$:/core/images/edit-button}}

<$list filter="[match[yes]]">

<$text text=" "/>
<$text text="am edit"}/>

<$action-setfield $tiddler="$:/state/sidebar/save" text={{{
[[$:/state/sidebar]is[tiddler]!text[]then{$:/state/sidebar!!text}else[yes]]
}}}/>
<$action-setfield $tiddler="$:/state/sidebar" text="no"/>

So there would be no need for identical images with just the color
difference?

Just a thought of course ^^,

Re: [tw5] Re: Possible simple modification for editing full screen?

2020-08-02 Thread E Browns
That's possible, yeah! It's what I've outlined above.. For example the core
edit button is this: $:/core/ui/Buttons/edit

You can go search for that tiddler at $:/AdvancedSearch —> Shadows tab,
navigate to it, and at the dropdown menu, choose to clone it. That'll make
a /copy/ of it which you can inject the hide-sidebar-action into.

This /copy/, change the caption text a bit so you can differentiate it from
the core edit button, then rename it to something else (up to you).

Then, you can go to:

$:/ControlPanel —> Appearance —> Toolbars —> View Toolbar

And from there, uncheck the core edit button, and make sure that your
/copy/ is checked (you'd be able to tell which is yours if you changed the
caption text of your /copy/).

Please let me know if this is unclear hehe I wish to help you with this.
Button editting was my first forage into tiddlywiki ui design and i'm
getting nostalgic.

Re: [tw5] Re: Plugin prototype: Command Palette

2020-08-02 Thread E Browns
Amazing update! Thank you so much!

What I'm trying to accomplish is the creation of a tiddler with fields and
text signified by symbols within the input, and have that
save-then-nothing, or save-then-edit, or save-then-navigate. I have those
macros ready to feed into CP ^^,

Default CP action for tiddler creation can allow me only title and tags,
but that's completely fine because I believe a universal tool like CP
shouldn't already contain the very specific things I need, when I can just
use its custom command toolset! And that's what makes it all the more
amazing, I think.

That's the same sort of awesome that I also apply to Tiddlywiki ^^, the
ability to make /use/ of it endlessly customizable. Thanks again! Will test
now!

Re: [tw5] Re: [PLUGIN] Working on a new fullscreen editor, looking for feedback

2020-08-01 Thread E Browns
Hi Saq!

Thank you, those are really important ideas!

After a while using, I did become annoyed at the toggles and how they
didn't achieve the kind of simplicity in interaction and looks as I was
hoping for.

I am also going to return the editButtons up top, because with a narrower
frame, they cause the editor toolbar buttons to bunch together and make it
all feel unbalanced.

Also, yeah I realized while using it that the titlebar is acting strangely!
I'll have to find a better method for the effect I want.

Thanks for those valuable thoughts!

Re: [tw5] Re: Presenting: Whitespace, a negative-spacious, webapp-nostalgic theme

2020-07-26 Thread E Browns
Oh my!

I looked into it and I saw/remembered that I had put a bad mechanism that
made components of this theme immune to updates (basically, configurations
edit the fields of theme tiddlers themselves.. These over-writings persist
beyond updates).

Let me fix these and I'll get back to you again.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

Pre-loaded sidebar tabs, those part of the core, can be searched for in

Be wary that the theme has a scrolling bug in later TW versions... I

True. Mobile users tend to prefer specificity and looks in an app. It needs

Hi Josiah,

Thank you! I still have to slim down the code a bit and tweak some things

Re: [tw5] Re: [theme] Presenting "Mono" theme

2019-02-19 Thread E Browns
Hi Jeremy,

Thank you!

I wonder if I have to convert some colors for that? Some of these palettes
use rgba colors with opacities, which might not be compatible with some
browsers.

And also, I don't know how to actually request something be put into the
core, nor the naming convention for a palette that isn't attached to a
theme. 😅

Hi HC,

Sorry for the late update, but due to the recent changes to the sidebar
structure I have had to re-release this plugin here:

The old one (for TW5.1.18 below) is still available at

(still haven't the time to update my other stuff, will do that along with
bug reports 😅)

Hi Kevin,

Oh my, sorry for the delay, it's been a rough few weeks at work and I
haven't been able to do backdoor TW stuff for a while now.

If you can wait, I'll update the theme by the weekend. I'm guessing I can
do default-sidebar-open by setting the various $reveal widgets to have
*default="yes*" values for anywhere it applies to the sidebar.

Sorry for the delay, and thanks for following up on this!
