[tw] Re: How large are you TW files?

2014-01-31 Thread Mal
cangaroo joe,

Yes, good point - this is a simple way to include external images.

At this stage, I prefer to stick with fully embedded images as it allows
for a single tw5 html file that can be viewed on portable devices. I was
not able to figure out how to do this on an iPad with a separate folder of
images.

Generally, I find the speed acceptable, particularly after Jeremy fixed a
problem
with tiddler
cachingthat
was causing very slow typing speed.

Regards,

Mal

Dear Mal,

you can use HTML5 code for images:

Dear Mal,

Yes linking to external images are not available yet, I added the link tags
and URLs of files in the database waiting for new TW5 updates. Embedding
images in TW5 slowers it down very much (in case you embed hundreds of
images in a single file) and the file size will be much larger than storing
images separately+database.

cangaroo joe,

The images in the tw5 file I referred to are all embedded. In fact, as I
understand it, linking to external images in the file system is currently
not available in tw5.

Dear Mal,

You also love images as I see, probably you don't embeed images into the TW
file just point to them as external files with links. This is a great tool
for writers, ideal for research, book writing such as Scrivener,
mind-mapping as TheBrain, note taking as Evernote and Onenote. I tried so
many applications in the past years, I searched for high customizability,
flexibility, active development of it, speed and a friendly community. I
think I find these now here. Thanks.

Re: [tw] Re: How large are you TW files?

2014-01-30 Thread Keith Buckner
My file at work: tiddlywiki classic, 29.789 tiddlers, 28,000 kb. (all
text). Documenting and tracking everything I do, everything I know and what
I need to learn, keeping track of projects, contacts info. Very useful for
looking up how to do infrequent tasks, and amazing co-workers with your
"memory". I attempt to have amass info on everything, for example a part
number, and continually add to it or link to it the next time I deal with
it.

My home file: tiddlywiki classic, 7838 tiddlers, 15,713 kb (all text)
daily diary, keeping track of house projects, house inventory, maintaining
a library of books, music, and videos (currently reading, not yet read,
finished reading), lists of ideas, shopping, lists of software in use and
retired, people database, tiddlers of reference books/material (some left
intact, others sliced and diced), reminders list, contacts database for an
organization I belong to, various todo lists, documentation of anything I
learn, anything I fix, anything I don't know, want to learn, documenting
tiddlywiki info and experimenting with tiddlywiki, etc.
