[time-nuts] Use the LT3042 for retrofit?

2018-03-20 Thread Perry Sandeen via time-nuts
Yo Dudes,
Should one consider retrofitting  HP 105's,  Austron 1250's or HP 10811 power
supplies with the LT3042 for better performance?  The price is modest.  The HP
10811 suggested PS for the EFC is a 723 circuit that spedc's 6 microvolts
ripple IIRC.
Regards,
Perrier

Not really "Time Nuts" related, but feed these 10 MHz and they make an
excellent marker system for 2304, 3456, 5760, 10,368 and 24,192.

(yes they have harmonics up to 24 GHz)

Richard
is that the BCDl   DDS sounds familiar, if so there  are Cs out there that
need them and can not be found.

Mark,
Yes, I saw that. My main interest at the moment is just getting the thing

When I dumped the flash rom from one of the TruePosition units, we found a
couple of commands that seem related to OCXO learning. They are discussed a
little in the thread on EEVBLOG.

2018-03-20 Thread Bob kb8tq
Hi

If you *do* go swapping around OCXO’s (or whatever) on a GPSDO board,
it’s very nice to be able to change the internal “magic numbers” to get the
control loop running properly again. The TBolt kind of spoiled us all in that
regard. Most GPSDO’s are not very user friendly in this regard ( = you can’t
get at the numbers you need to change).

Have you measured it's dynamic performance?
I did some spice simulations some time ago and noticed that there are
some load conditions where this circuit is very close to oscillation
(ie load changes lead to heavy ringing)of course, this is under
the assumption that the spice model of the LT3042 is accurate in that
regard.
