[time-nuts] HP 5335A Question

I have an HP 5335A and I am measuring the output of a Suzler 2.5.  I 
have a GPSDO 10 MHz input into the back of the 5335A.


There is mention in the manual that the counter can display 11 or 12 
digits (in addition to the two Exponent digits).  I presently have it 
displaying nine digits.


Does anyone have one of these and could help me figure out how to get 12 
digits displayed?  The manual is not very helpful here.

[time-nuts] Sulzer 2.5 For Sale

Hello

I am selling a Sulzer 2.5 frequency standard.It is rack mounted with a 
separate power supply and no battery.It also has an “Amplitude Fault 
System.”(I have not been able to find out what this does.) There is a 
PDF manual that I will send the buyer with the equipment.  The switch 
setting #4 shows zero milliamps.


I am not an expert in these devices by any means, but have been running 
the Sulzer for several days using John Miles’ excellent TimeLab 
software.I have pasted in below an Allen Deviation plot for three days 
of data collection.


I will be selling the Sulzer on auction on eBay starting on Monday, 
October 23.The starting bid will be $200.Shipping may be around $50.

[time-nuts] Changing COM Port

Thanks!  I should have typed “Program Files” not “Program Filed.”

Adding the /3 after the right hand quote in the shortcut worked fine.

I found, however, that entering /3 as a command once the program is running 
does not seem to work.

I did not try configuring the heather.cfg file since it requires another entry 
in the shortcut.  The /3 addition works fine and I don’t have any other 
commands to include just now.

Thanks for the information on changing the COM port in Lady Heather’s shortcut. 
 

I added “/3” as instructed to get this: "C:\Program Files\Heather\heather.exe 
/3”

However, when I press OK, I get a message that “The name "C:\Program 
Filed\”Heather\heather.exe /3” specified in the Target box is not valid. Make 
sure the path and file name are correct.”

[time-nuts] Change COM Port in Lady Heather

I read that to change the COM port in Lady Heather, you type “/“ and then the 
COM port number, such as 3.  So you enter “/3” to change to COM 3.

i tried this, but it does not seem to change the input COM port from 1 to 3.

I checked and the other settings (BPS, etc.) are the same between the two ports.

I am using an Edgeport serial to USB adapter.  This has eight serial ports and 
connects to the PC via USB.  Eight virtual ports are create in the Edgeport 
software.

Hi Tom

I just wanted to tell you that I got a GPSDO and successfully calibrated the 
2.5 MHz Sulzer with it.  

I was able to put both waveforms on my oscilloscope and adjust the Sulzer so 
that they aligned, just as you advised.

Does anyone have a description of the various types of data on the Lady Heather 
user interface?

I can figure out some of it, but still have some questions.

For example, what are the data being graphed on the moving time chart?

[time-nuts] Lady Heather

I am just starting out using Lady Heather.

I am trying to create a .cfg file to set the program to COM 3 at startup.

I created the file and saw the instructions to put it in my “Documents” folder. 
 The only documents folder in Windows is “My Documents.”  

I created a text file and called it “Heather.cfg” and put it in the My 
Documents folder, but it does not work.  I just put “/3” to change the COM port 
to COM 3.

I also tried putting in the “Heather” program folder.

Also, I have read and re-read the list of commands and don’t see any to change 
the display to show the “sky” view of the satellites, as is shown on the Lady 
Heather web page.

Any help would be appreciated.

This looks like a good beginner's GPSDO on eBay: 172148560746

"This is GPS Disciplined Clock made with trimble GPSDO Board.Full tested 
by Agilent 53132A with US-012 option and Ex-ref from trimble thunderbolt 
GPSDO."



 The seller says it has a sine wave output and is accurate from
 10e-11 to 10e-12.

Any thoughts?

I am just getting into the precise time and frequency stuff.  I thought I 
should buy a GPSDO.

There are quite a few similar-looking ones on eBay, such as eBay number

There is also a Trimble at 252162780444

Would either of these be OK for a newbie like me?
