They are pulling out 14,500 y/o kauri trees (hard wood) out of peat
bogs over here which are perfectly preserved in the lack of oxygen (I
have a cutting board made out of some). Maybe the boxes should be made
out of this wood because it has a zero oxygen content and was grown
before the advent of electricity and radio signals so none of these
are trapped inside it and will not interfere with the quality of the
audio. Also the very tight and narrow rings in the wood increase the
high frequency response and do not attenuate the reference frequency
of the HM leading to perfect sound. Combined with silver stranded litz
wire bunches rolled together on the thighs of virgin Cuban young woman
during a lunar eclipse to exclude the effects of solar flares.

Uhh.. solar eclipse.. you want the moon blocking the radiation from the
sun, and, in reality, you probably want to wait a few minutes ( or
hours) after the totality, because the particles move slower than light.

Of course, with a lunar eclipse, you have the earth blocking the
radiation, but that happens every night, and I leave it to time nuts to
determine precisely when the blocking effect is greatest (just saying
midnight is probably only accurate to minutes.. what with equation of
time and all)

Or some such foolery..

On closer inspection of the brochure, I see that does have a reference input for

You could get a Motorola M12+ from Bob for $0.01 if your lucky on one
of his auctions or do a deal with him as he is quite approachable. Add
a handful of chips and an $8 antenna, again, from Bob, fluke.l, and
you could add another $10,000 to the price, I'm sure :)

Add one of the Trimble receivers in there for the extra high quality
stable units :)

But if you really want to score in this market... You don't supply a
GPS locked Rb unit because with all the birds coming in and out of
constellation this causes jumps in the reference oscillator and
degrades the audio quality. All your units come calibrated and should
be returned to base on a 3 (6) month basis for re-calibration. Costs
for calibration range from $799.95 for a single but a 5 year contract
reduces the cost per calibration down to a mere $499.95. A separate
contract for the supply of a swapout unit to enable continuous use can
be purchased for $699.95 on a per calibration period which includes
the provision of a loan unit to you and the calibration of your unit,
shipping costs additional.

Sadly, the Audiophool nuttery has real collateral damage.

Many of the very silly tube amps use transmitting tubes that are no longer
in production. Audiophools are buying up WW II radios and Tektronix scopes
to strip them for their tubes.

The Audiphools are like those who get a kick on dining on endangered species.

Why stop there? How about buying Russian Hydrogen MASERs and putting them
in hand-rubbed old growth teak boxes and selling them for $995,000?

Think big.

That is what the different GPSDO boards/designs do. Most oscillators does
not include this. There are exceptions, like the X72 rubidiums that
'flyingbest' has on the market. Apparently X72s have a very modern small
rubidium package - this came with some performance hit. Search the
archives for details.

Note that the Rb audio timing unit also provides an input for an external 10
MHz reference. So the discerning audiophile can use his cesium if the
rubidium drift becomes intolerable.

Do the cheap fluke units allow locking to a 1 pps signal? If so, you could
sell a GPS locked version for even more!

The point made in

http://www.g8wrb.org/useful-stuff/pdf/audiophools.pdf

is that the people that do this sort of thing must have pretty deep
pockets, which you don't associate with stupid people. (There are
exceptions of course). There was a guy I was at school with. His parents
were richer than most of us in the working class area of Walthamstow, East
London.

He did advanced level (A-level) in physics, chemistry and maths, just like
me. He used speaker cables that had arrows on them pointing in the
direction the music was supposed to flow. I asked him why. He could not
offer any explanation of any logic for this, but still bought them, as he
could afford to.
