Re: [time-nuts] gpib card to usb

2006-04-30 Thread Didier Juges
I have 2 of the previous version (controls one instrument only) and they
do exactly as advertised.

I have used them for 1) downloading plot files from HP 3566B spectrum
analyzers because the original HP 7470 plotter was dead -> great result,
and the plots are in hi-res graphics on the PC and 2) plot the phase
noise performance of my Tek 494P spectrum analyzer. Plots are at
http://www.ko4bb.com/Tek494

I have no reason to believe the new version does anything other than
work as advertised. This is a great economical solution for GPIB control.

Hi all,

the Prologix GPIB-USB converter is descrived here http://prologix.biz/gpibusb
and may be bought from http://www.sparkfun.com/shop/index.php?shop=1&itemid=500

It's nice and works as described. It has no LabView driver (at least by now).

It is a bare board, without any casing, and lacks the usual two
screws that lock GPIB connectors.
Nice for experimenting, not so fine for a professional use ... a bare
board is too delicate, IMHO.

I have one of the Agilent devices, but this one looks interesting from the fact
that you can talk to it with a regular COM port. I'd like to find out where to
get one other than the two that are shown on that Ebay listing. I also noticed
that they are promoting John's (KE5FX) screen capture software.
