[Tinyos-help] Java Version problems

2006-05-16 Thread Prashant Kr. Gupta
Hi all,

I am from IIT Roorkee, INDIA, and am working on my final year project
"DRISHTI-Indoor Orientation for Visually Impaired" using sensor
motes to sense the position of the impaired person, speech recognition
so that he can mark his destination...

all my modules are working fine seperately...
1) sensor motes to sense the VI: specifically requires jdk 1.4.1 ... i
am using Listen.java in /tools/java/net/tinyos/tools ... this doesn't
works if there is a JRE installed on the system

2) speech recognition:  using Cloud Garden's Talking SDK 1.6.4...
when i install this... it so happens that it doesn't detects a JVM...
if i specifically install a jdk available on any of the site which have
JRE with it... the motes don't work

please help

thanks

One important question there: how does one calibrate a sensor in general?
Can it be done using TinyOS?

Hi. I'v already been using MicroTimer and in my experiment, the sampling rate can only reach 2kHz. If the frequency of timer is higher, ADC rates doesn't keep on with the timer. So I deployed ADCControl.setSamplingRate(TOS_ADCSample60us). But I got no effect? (The ideal clock rate

[Tinyos-help] LoggerWrite in conflict with Send

2006-05-16 Thread Franco
Title: Messaggio

Dear
all

I am currently
developing an application which at every defined interval of time (say 1 minute)
take sensor measurements and write on the EEPROM.
In the mean time the
application elaborate the data and every 1 hour should send an average of the
data to BCAST.
Unfortunately it
seem that there is a conflict between the write process and the send process. In
fact the Mote send just the first message, and then start to work
randomly sending messages once every certain amount of LoggerWrite
processes.

If I don't use the
LoggerWrite at all then the Send work properly.

Somebody had the
same problem? Do you have some suggestion that could solve the
conflict?

Thanks for your
help.

ReceiveMsg is (in theory) for data-link (GenericComm) packets only;
Receive is more general, and is for any protocol layers above it. In

do not support the msp430x1611 microcontroller.

Re: [Tinyos-help] Re: Osciloscope doubt

2006-05-16 Thread Michael Schippling

Well, again, it's only my opinion. But I doubt that any simple
open-loop thermistor or CDS cell is particularly linear or
repeatable from device to device. However I am often mistaken...

In any case I would set up the sensor in a known environment
like the one I eventually want to measure, let it stabilize,
and see what I got for a reading. For extra credit I would
vary the environment over the range I expect and plot the
response. Do this with a few different sensors and you'll see
how mistaken I can be.

Once the parameters are known then an adjustment table could
be built into the client, or even fancier, into each mote
using the EEPROM. I don't know of any existing programs that
do any of this though.

One important question there: how does one calibrate a sensor in general?
Can it be done using TinyOS?

2006-05-16 Thread Chiu C. Tan
Hi Joe

Do you know where I can get the latest msp430 tools?

I have tried getting them from tinyos 2.0, but when I try to install
msp430tools-binutils-2.16-20050607.cygwin.i386.rpm
I get this error
unpacking if archive failed on file
/usr/local/mspgcc/bin/nsp430-strip.exe

I have also tried to use an older version
mspgcc-win32tinyos-20041204-1.cygwin.i386.rpm
but I get the same error.

Thanks

  Dear

  I am currently
developing an application which at every defined interval of time (say 1
minute) take sensor measurements and write on the EEPROM.
  In the mean time
the application elaborate the data and every 1 hour should send an average of
  the data to BCAST.
  Unfortunately it
seem that there is a conflict between the write process and the send process.
In fact the Mote send just the first message, and then start to work
randomly sending messages once every certain amount of LoggerWrite
  processes.

  If I don't use the
LoggerWrite at all then the Send work properly.

  Somebody had the

Good work...

I believe the EEPROM and Radio both use the I2C mechanism
so there may be some conflict there. Don't know why a buffer
size would be significant though...

[Tinyos-help] Underlying MAC protocol Used

2006-05-16 Thread Arya Afrashteh
I've been reading through some documentation and I can't tell what type of
data link layer protocol is being used in TinyOS 1.1.10. Is it B-MAC, S-MAC,
or just plain MAC? Also I can't seem to find a diagram that shows how many
bits the preamble is, the sync is, the payload, etc etc. Does anyone know?
Also, the difference between B-MAC, S-MAC, and MAC would be nice too.

I read a messge by Joe saying that SimpleCmd is old and is not supported by Telos. I wanted to know whether it is supported by Tmote or not ? If not than what can be the alternative ??Thanks,Bhushan

Hi all,

temperature sensor, whose data is measured through a duty cycle. Then we
need a clock to measure it. We have write an application and it compiles

We do not know what the problem is. We have copied here the code of our
