Re: [Tinyos-help] kanhaiya yadav has sent you a hi5 Friend Request

2008-07-18 Thread Urs Hunkeler
Dear all,

I don't know whether this mail has been sent out by the person mentioned
in the mail, or whether a robot has automatically collected e-mail
addresses and is now spamming list subscribers with spoofed sender
addresses.

Since this is not the first time I receive this type of mass invitation
to a social networking site, I would like to point out that I find it
*extremely* rude to send out mass invitations of this kind. Please, send
only invitations to people that you know (with whom you have at least
had a personal e-mail exchange) and then, also personalize the invitation.

Thank you for your attention,
Urs

It depends upon at which frequency they are working, I guess.

You can use CtpPacket interface instead of CollectionPacket interface.
CtpPacket interface has a command called getThl(msg). You will need to
adjust the wiring accordingly in TestNetworkAppC.nc.

You can look at tn-injector.c to see how it sets serial header fields
as well as application header fields. You can probably use a similar
technique in Java.

[Tinyos-help] Increasing a node's transmit radius under TOSSIM

2008-07-18 Thread Anthony Smee

Hi there

I am working on some code which discovers other nodes, in fact all nodes
discover what is around them. It is possible that some nodes are hidden, that
is they hear from others but can't communicate back. All of this is in the
TOSSIM environment.

Is it possible, that when a Node determines that another node is a hidden /
asymmetric node, it can tell said node to increase its radio transmit radius
and so, potentially, bring it out of its hidden status? From reading through
the tutorials and looking at code I realise you could do this by changing the
gain relationship between the two, or more, nodes, which would have to
completed at the Python level. However I can't see how a nodes transmit radius
can be increased, is there a command to complete this?

Also, a second question, if I may, is it possible to ascertain the x / y
co-ordinates of a node in a topology?

Thank you.

Anthony

well for 802.15.4 platforms the ieee standard limits the maximum packet

look at the message.h and platform_message.h (i.e. under
tos/platforms/micaz/ for micaz) for details but TEP 111 [1] has
probably all the information you would need.

Re: [Tinyos-help] wavelength

2008-07-18 Thread David Moss
Just calculate it.

Wavelength = c / f

where c = speed of light ~= 3*10^8 m/s, f = frequency

The default channel, 26, is somewhere in the high region of the 2.4 GHz ISM
band, which would be around 2.485 GHz => 2.485*10^9 Hz.

Wavelength(high end) = (3*10^8 m/s) / (2.485*10^9 1/s) = 0.1208 meters =>
12.08 cm.

The low end of the 2.4 GHz is 2.400 GHz. so the wavelength there is:

Wavelength(low end) = (3*10^8 m/s) / (2.0*10^9 Hz) => 15 centimeters

So the wavelength is between 12 to 15 centimeters, depending on which
channel you're sitting on. 13 centimeters is a good answer.

[Tinyos-help] PacketLink

2008-07-18 Thread David Valencia
When using the PacketLink interface, and a node requires retransmission of
a packet, if a BaseStation is being used to monitor network activity will
the BaseStation see all of the retransmission attempts?

As a simple test, I setup one node to transmit a packet using:

call PacketLink.setRetries(&Msg, 30);
call PacketLink.setRetryDelay(&Msg, 10);

before I send, and it transmits to a destination address of a mote that is
not on so I can force the retransmission.

I have a mote programmed with the BaseStation application and all the
BaseStation picks up is the initial packet sent by the mote but not the
re-transmissions.

Thank you for the suggestions.
I looked deeper at the application AntiTheft and i managed to do my own
application. I can now read messages sent by motes to the PC serial port and
show them in my java GUI.
I was wondering if there is a possibility of not using the SerialForwarder
and still receive the messages in the format i sent, example:
typedef nx_struct mymessage {
  nx_uint8_t moteID;
} mymessage;
