RE: [tips] gorilla video

2008-02-07 Thread Jim Matiya

Hello Tipsterville,
I was looking for a copy of Randy Smith's classical conditioning using the
music from Jaws, does anyone have a copy of it? It appeared in the Volume 2 of
the Activities Handbook for the Teaching of Psychology.
I do not have the Activity handbook #2. Of course, I have 1 3.

Any help would be appreciated...

Jim

Riki,
It worked for me. I had to press the play button before the box for the
movie even opened. Thanks for the site. I'm going to use some of it in class
today.

I wanted to show the Gorilla video on inattentional blindness produced by
the Visual Cognition Lab at
the University of Illinois in class, but it no longer opens. Does anyone know
of another way to access the video besides the visconbeckman site?

Riki,
Thanks again for this link. We are in exactly that spot in my cognitive
class so I used it today.

  All,
I was sure this wasn't going to work and almost didn't show it. In fact, I
prefeced it by saying I just wanted to give some more examples of how cognitive
research was done. To my surprise 3/4 of the class did not see the gorilla! I
really thought it was just too obvious to be useful for inattentional blindness
but I was wrong. I'm sure my knowing what was going to happen colored my
attention... but still. Good class today. I love these teaching listserves.

  Hi Kim,

I tried it in a different browser and it did open. Thanks.
For those who haven't seen it, the video is at
  http://viscog.beckman.uiuc.edu/djs_lab/demos.html , under inattentional
blindness.

To find the instructions and questions that Simon used with the videos, check
