It certainly seems useless...but perhaps that's just because it's in the New York Times. Nevertheless, I'm sure with current cutbacks in the US there will be a whole slew of "research" which will show how wonderfully valuable all grade school and high school teachers are, and how they are overworked, underpayed, under-appreciated, as well as their benefit and retirement packages just aren't good enough. It's just awful. Of course all grade and high school teachers should be making around 300K a year.
