Re: [tips] Child Life Specialists

I believe most of these folks work in hospital settings with children who
are going through extensive medical procedures like complicated surgeries
or cancer-related treatments. Certification is required, for the most part.

2018-07-25 Thread Steven Specht
Here at Utica College we have a separate program (i.e., separate from
Psychology) in Psychology/Child Life (although they do take a number
of our courses as part of their major). In fact, it is now a Master's
program. Prior to coming to UC, I had not heard of such a thing. It
has it's own professional organization and accrediting body. It is
also in fairly high demand here, in terms of student interests.

Hi Tipsters!

We are getting more prospective students asking us about becoming child life
specialists. So far our primary response is to be clear that our psychology
degree will not prepare them to the the child life certification exam.

I am curious if your departments are seeing prospectives who want to become
child life specialists and how you are have responded.
