just a quick info: Tlf 1.3.1 will part of Debian Testing soon:

https://tracker.debian.org/news/999705/accepted-tlf-131-1-source-into-unstable/

Anyway, the build flows on different architectures runs, and
looks like some of them has failed:

https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=tlf

Especially:

alpha:
https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=tlf=alpha=1.3.1-1=1541010733=0
hppa:
https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=tlf=hppa=1.3.1-1=1541010778=0
sparc64:
https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=tlf=sparc64=1.3.1-1=1541010531=0

I think that's not so big problem, but may be it would be good to
check the tests, specially the run_initial_exchange.c and
test_initial_exchange.c. May be there is a workaround to avoid
this bug on these arch's.

This is not relevant - just let you know.

[Tlf-devel] v1.4 topics

2018-10-31 Thread Csahok Zoltan
Hi Tom,

Some topics from my backlog:

* improve the "grab a spot while in run mode" use case:
- while CQing user grabs a spot using Alt-G
- mode switches to Log, freq is saved
- change: as soon as the QSO is logged (or Esc'ed) mode+freq
switch back automatically
(i.e. no need to press # and +)
- advanced mode: if supported by radio VFO-B
could be used to receive both freqs.

* grab on-screen spots only ("WYSIWYG"):
- use case: screen is full of cluster spots; user wants to jump to DL1ABC;
by mistake types DL2; Alt-G jumps to DL2XYZ that is also spotted
but was not visible.
result: user is confused.
- on the other hand jumping to an off-screen spot could make sense
if one knows from another source that the station was spotted.

* switch to hamlib's freq_t for frequencies:
tlf currently typically uses kHz values as floats
demo of a rounding error: https://repl.it/repls/EasyForcefulPackage

Re: [Tlf-devel] TLF-1.3.1 release

2018-10-31 Thread Nate Bargmann
Hi Tom.

One thing you might consider is adding an MD5SUM file and a SHA1SUM file
with those respective signatures in each. Optionally, you can sign all
the files with your GPG key as well. Doing so just provides a bit of
extra assurance that you're indeed to the source of the files and that
they've not been tampered with even though I think a ham radio logger is
a rather low attack vector, but...
