Re: [TMIC] ugh

I don't have immediate advice about you ankle, but use a wheelchair in Florida
every chance you get. Remember the heat and humidy wil tire you and you don't
need any more falls. Rest up now so you can enjoy those three weeks.

[TMIC] Sleep on It

2006-06-02 Thread Krissy Z
Sleep on It From "Hurry Up and Rest" by Al Cadenhead, Jr.:Based upon the work of Dr. Hans Selye and other physicians who have studied the physiological response to stress, we now know that much of the immune system is involved in the stress response. An example to which most of us can relate is the tendency to get a cold during a
period of stress or after a long period of physical exertion. The immune system of the body can be viewed as an army of small soldiers of cells that are able to conduct physical combat and chemical warfare. Dr. Wayne Hodges of the Savannah Pain Clinic in Savannah, Georgia, has described the immune system as, "An army of cells which actually smother and take hold of harmful organisms which enter the body system. They are capable of literally squirting chemicals that kill organisms and communicate to other body organs to make certain defenses against disease and illness." During long periods of stress and unrest, the body's immune system becomes impaired or, at least, compromised. The exact reasons are rather technical but are primarily a result of increased levels of catecholamines which begin to impair the response of the immune system. The important thing for us to know is that frequently illness is
brought on as a direct result of poor rest habits and long periods of stress. One who rests well will usually do better at resisting some types of illnesses. This information is intended to supplement the care provided by your physician and is not a subsitute for professional medical advice. We urge you to consult with your doctor on any questions you may have regarding a medical condition-or before making any significant changes in
your eating or exercise habits.Krissy ZoddaTri State Support Group Leaderhttp://www.geocities.com/tmladyk/home.html~I'm In pretty Good Shape For the Shape I am in~ __Do You Yahoo!?Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

Re: [TMIC] fatigue

I sure don't know--but I am going to the Symposium---I'll try to find
out--You going? Cora in OKla.

I noticed that this summer at the 2nd International Rare Neuroimmunolic
Symposium there is going to be a session on Fatigue in TM and similar
 disorders.

In the meantime I just wondered if someone can explain it or has any
 information on it.

I take many vitamins and supplements, and they may be helping, but still
 battle fatigue daily.

 Thanks,
 Gary in Michigan
