I have used gel cushions from Jay for a decade. The primary use is in my wheelchairs, but I have used them in restaurants. Being in a chair leads to atrophy of the butt muscles, and these muscles pad the ischial protuberances. The first came with the manual chair in the summer of '92, model, J2. This had the gel in less than a dozen large, shaped compartments. After three years the gel had hardened; the cushion discarded, the cover, still in good shape, retained. The second, a JAY Gel, is under me now. I have two chairs, the old, manual chair for travelling, the power chair for use at home, highway travel, cemetery work, cross-lawn travel, and bull-dozing furniture and the toilet bowl. The cushion that came with the chair is junk, a stiff cushion on a rigid steel plate, a butt killer - the supplier was saving pennies at my expense. So I use the new Jay on top of it. That isn't quite sufficient5, so I frequently put a third cusihion on top of the other two. When I trravel, the Jay Gel is the only cushion on the fabric sling of the folding chair. Ahh, pure comfort, like a hand in an old glove. I can sit all day in that chair and often do. All three cushions are rather heavy, and the covers have a loop handle in the front. The handle is used to move the cushion and to serve as an anchor for my night bag. Couldn't do without the handle. I shall solve the comfort problem, either with a new base cushion or with a home-made sling. Medicare reimburses me for cushions. Alton

My daughter had a honey comb type cushion that she used. Luckily the insurance company paid for it because it was over $500 but well worth it. Tracey L. Hi everyone' As some of you know I will be entering the hospital next monday morning for an intravenous gamaglobin including a bone maroow transplant. Thuis will last five days. To backrack my plelete count is very very low. I have ITP whereby my white blood cells are killing each other off. The risk are not so high. Those of us who have TM have gone through much worst. the news is this: It is related to TM ;;; I thought it was a new complication to my life but doing some research I discovered that ITP is a directed result to TM in some people. \\\The good part of all this is that I will be so drugged up for four days that I will not feel the pain I have been experiencing for the last 7 years. It is better then cannibus. God bless One week of total bliss. no pain. just HIGH please keep me in your thoughs and prayers. Again my church is praying for Jude.The lord is with us each and everyone of us. DEAR LIST, I WENT OFF ON A DEAR FRIEND ROB WHO I HAVE KNOWN FOR QUITE AWHILE .I STARTED WRITING IT NOT TO BE MEAN ARE CRUEL BUT I SHOULD OF WENT TO ROB NOT THE LIST. You missed the weather Regina [I love your name- very regal !], That's why we went away- to get better weather. I'd never been to Costa Rica. Warm, dry, sunny, great food, ecotourism! Barbara et al, I use this cushion called a Relax Gellcell. Originally I used it with my wheelchair when I left hospital in Oct 2003. I tried out about 10 other cushions before finding this one. It was new on the market at the time. The people who were supplying the wheelchair, cushions, walker etc tried out all the others then found this one. It was the best for me. I seldom use the wheelchair anymore unless going to museums, long walks (ride) with friends/family, or when I'm sick. (use walker or cane mostly now). However I use the cushion all the time. I can't sit in my motorized recliner (which is cushioned but my tailbone still hurts) or on any hard chair for any length of time without extreme nerve pain so use the cushion. There are air pockets 34 large air pockets that have gel on top of the air pockets. There is a pump that is used to inflate when it loses air which doesn't seem to happen very often at all. I can't remember the price of it as it was covered at the time by special medical coverage. I will try and dig up anything I can find on the price. [TMIC] Warning regarding Wristech Blood Pressure Monitors...
Hi All ~ I was taking a look at Dr. Leonard's website for the shoes and the gel cushion and noticed the Wristech Blood Pressure Monitors.it's the one that fits on your wrist. I purchased four of themone for myself and three as gifts and decided to try them all out..they are not accurate! Every one of those monitors gives a different reading and it's on the low end which can be dangerous for someone with high BP. I tested them against the upper arm cuff BP monitor that I have at home which I know to be accurate. I packed them up and sent them back to the company with a letter explaining the problem and the possible dangers to a patient and the fact that the company could be looking at lawsuits up the road...and suggested they take them off the market. Got no responsegot my money backhaven't heard any more about them...but I see they're still on the market. Guess I need to write more letters...! Love to all, ~ Lynn **Ideas to please picky eaters.
