RE: [TMIC] Iron Deficiency
Yes, I have chronic low hemoglobin counts - I was told that a chronic illness like this will lead to anemia. That and the monthly period does me in. I have to supplement with iron just to keep my hemoglobin in the low normal range. It usually runs at 117 with gusts to 124. I can tell when my iron is low, as I get absolutely fatigued just by thinking. I too am deficient in iron. I am sensitive to supplements for it and so in the past resisted taking anything, but now, with TM, I want to buttress everything i can and found an iron pill that's supposed to be for those who are sensitive. So far, okay -- no breakouts or stomach aches from it --

I've been trying some new things to try to feel 'human' again, and pull myself out of my depression. I started on the anti-depressant Lexapro about 3 weeks ago. No noticeable change yet, but I know it can take several weeks. At least no bad side effects like I had with Lyrica and Cymbalta. I'm also getting physical therapy at home three days a week, which is kicking my butt, (fatigue, pain), and will be starting occupational therapy for my hands. Last week, my BP was low, and still is in the 100/60 area. Before that it was 120/70. I am treated for high BP and have a call in to my doctor about this. Maybe it has to do with PT after being sedentary for so long? Anyway, I'm trying to be proactive about things..not easy for me. Wishing you all the best. Kevin
Re: [TMIC] changes
Hello Kevin, How have you been? It looks like you are finally getting some services and some medications. Looks like you are on the right track. I'm so thrilled to hear that you are getting physical therapy and the anti-depression meds. Who knows how much better you'd be if you would have gotten this long ago, but at least you are getting them now. It's hard work, but I hope that you will see some reward from the therapy. If you can get strong enough to get out again, a group therapy may be a good situation for you. I did that for quite some time prior to moving here and it helped me so much with my depression. I should do it again, as I find myself slipping every now and then, like several times a year, and not pulling myself out too easily. It's hard to start, but once you do, you'll find that you don't want to miss it. I found that I felt that I was helping others and in turn it felt like I was helping myself. Very much like the TMIC, but you get to do it in person, so you get that human contact that is necessary for us to thrive. Re: [TMIC] Must report setback
Hi Dalton, I don't know if anyone else has asked this or not, but could you have overdone it? Most of us know that if we push ourselves too much it seems to look like a relapse and takes a bit to get over it. It can take a day to several days till we are back to what is the new normal for us. I've had TM for 11 years (I thought it was 12 until I did the math recently) and I continue to overdo it on a regular basis. I've been trying to get some things done around the house and have been focused on that, not on myself. I really did myself in 3 times in the past 2 weeks. The mind/body connection isn't really strong with me lately. I'm not saying that this is what is happening to you, and of course, keep your doctor's appointment. But, it's definately something to keep in mind. If not for now, but also in the future, our bodies ain't what they use to be! It's a shame, but true!
