Re: Release of 1.7

It has to be a pretty major bug for a bugfix release, I think 0.4a was
the only one so far...

It's all round better if people test SVN if they can :-).

I think bugs in 1.7 are okay/expected, provided there is a bugfix
release before 1.8. Of course, if you aren't in the habit of doing
bugfix releases and want your major ones to be stable, then we just
have different goals. :)

As far as when 1.7 goes out... well, I'd like to have the control mode
stuff in but I'm currently (still) slacking on that because it is a big
chunk of code and tmux is already big enough :-). Would like to do the
UTF-8 stuff first which at least removes a bunch of code...

It's up to you of course what makes most sense for you to run, but if
nobody runs trunk then the bugs won't be found before 1.7 and
everyone'll have to live with them until 1.8 ;-).

Do you expect users who do this to make the assumption that trunk is
stable? I wouldn't make that assumption; that is precisely why I
*don't* want to run trunk. And I wouldn't expect the maintainers to
really want that, either, because it means it is harder to know which
bugs (and which bug interactions) different users will face.

Well, tmux is in base in openbsd. So no. Work is done on tmux in openbsd
and then synched back to the portable svn version whenever.

I shouldn't worry about that. Just use what's in trunk.

Is there at least some synchronicity with OpenBSD releases?

I've seen a lot of new features go by on this list lately, so I was
curious when I would get to enjoy them officially. :)

Oh, when? Sorry. Misread that. Svn versions get released whenever. There
tends to be no pattern per se. Presumably when someone has time enough and
there's significant changes in trunk.

It's not released yet. That's what the svn version in trunk/ is for.
