Check out how service.bat uses the executable.  What you're asking in 2 and 3
are easy to do when you use the executable directly.  The 1st one I'm not sure,
needs further investigation.

I know that it is possible to do all 3 with the executable directly. However
without those 3 features the service.bat file is in my opinion not very useful.

The purpose of service.bat is to give an example of
how tomcat5.exe can be used for installing and managing service.
If we are going to add additional command line parameters, then
there is no reason for service.bat at all.

As Yoav said, use existing service.bat, and customize it to
your needs. That is the purpose of that file after all.
I doubt that adding '--Startup auto' is appropriate for the manual
service installation. But if you wish you can easily add that param to
//IS// or use Service Manager and change the startup type.
