RE: Best IDE for Servlet Development?

2001-04-30 Thread Patil, Anand

Is this the free version. 'cos the one which is free
supported only jdk 1.1.8. I wanted to use visual Age 3.0 which
is free for Linux, but since it supports only jdk1.1.8, i don't
want to use it. Is version 3.5 free for Linux?

In the doc dir of your apache installation dir. you would have a
README file. That file says where you need to put the
generated mod_jk.so file. So that apache can pick it up when it starts.

And my suggestion was to make sure you have the correct Kernel etc...
so i hope Rick try out updating couple of his software versions on

RE: Core Dump - Again

2001-04-02 Thread Patil, Anand

Kevin please don't get confused,
Let's see what is causing the core dump.
Have you got kernel 2.4.2? Have you got latest tomcat?
DId you do make xconfig? and chose correct setting?

Does your tomcat compile on your machine?
What do you see in /var/log/messages after compile?
Have you installed latest apache? Is apache up and running?
Have you got the binary version of tomcat or you build it from
source? If binary version did you dowmload the release version?
Hope helps!

RE: Core Dump - Again

2001-03-30 Thread Patil, Anand

I think your modules for tomcat are messed up.
Rebuild your kernel.
go to /usr/src/linux, do 'make xconfig'.
In the configuration menu, chose auto load modules feature.
Then save it.
Then do

make dep
make clean
make modules
make modules_install
make bzImage
copy vmlinux to /boot and run lilo.

Then clean install the tomcat.
Hope Helps.

RE: tomcat installation

2001-03-30 Thread Patil, Anand

Sonia,
sonia, I think your CLASSPATH is screwed up, so can you reset
your CLASSPATH and set it to the one i had posted sometime back
in this newsgroup.
For your reference it is:

I would recommend reinstalling the tomcat.
First remove the module 'remmod tomcat-module-name'

RE: tomcat installation

2001-03-30 Thread Patil, Anand

Sonia,
Need to know more about yo ur setup.
Your JAVA_HOME should pointing to /usr/local/java/jdk1.3.1 or somet thin g
like that.
Your TOMCAT_HOME should be pointing to /usr/local/tomcat or some such
path where bin etc. subdir. reside.
And your CLASSPATH is pointing to /usr/local/java/jdk1.3.1/lib, which
contains .class files. Your java system class files and .jar files
shou;d be in CLASSPATH.
Hope helps.

Why iam building the tomcat source...RE: Guys i want 2 mins of your time...

2001-03-22 Thread Patil, Anand

The apache version i have is apache_1.3.19
The tomcat version 3.2.1-src
The ant 1.3
The jsse1.0.2
The jaxp-1.1

The JDK is J2SDK-1_3_1-beta-linux

Linux 7.0 redhat, kernel 2.4.2

As some one sugested i use bin. version of tomcat instead
of building the source.
The reason i want to build the source is that In current issue of
linux journal, i read a article, which says how to integrate
tomcat with apache, and says that in order to better intergrate
the tomcat with apache i have to use module mod_jk and need
to compile the apache with it, so that my apache server can
talk with tomcat. That;s what i have been trying to do, and
when doing so got the following error, which i have no idea
what's causing it. Please help!!

I've got no idea (! :) but are you aware there's a precompiled version of
Tomcat (3.2.1)? The reason I suggest this is that you only need the
sources if you're planning to develop Tomcat (in fact I think the source
is included with the pre-compiled version anyway), and if you're going to
help develop a servlet container, then I'm guessing you'd be on the
tomcat-developers list instead of the user's list.

Good luck in any case

RE: Tomcat - Apache installation - please help!!! - correction-!!

2001-03-21 Thread Patil, Anand

Iam terribly sorry, please substitue
/usr/local/apache/jakarta-tomcat/src/share/org/apache/jasper/compiler/JspCom
piler in place of D:\apache

I am using red-hat linux,
i just picked up the same error message which someone else
had posted, apparently he had windows and hehad the same
error message output as i was getting. So pl. ignore the
windows dir. and assume that it is linux dir. struct.
Instead of typing the whole error message, i just yanked the
windows message which someone else had posted, andhe
apparently had windows .

The error message i get get on linux box are the same except for the
directory shown below of D:\apache instead of that substitute:
/usr/local/apache/jakarta-tomcat/src/share/org/apache/jasper/compiler/JspCom
piler
Thanks,
